BULLDOG BONES
- Saturday's game will be the first trophy game for the Bulldogs this season, going head-to-head with Boise State to win back the Milk Can. The teams have faced off for the Milk Can each year since 2005.
- This season looks a little different for both sides as neither team is ranked in the Top 25. It is the first meeting of the last seven that neither team finds itself in the AP Poll or the Coaches Poll.
- Fresno State and Boise State are both expected to start quarterbacks who were not the starting quarterback for their program at the beginning of the season.
- Fresno State has had two different quarterbacks start in a game for the first time since 2017.
- Fresno State added eight transfers in from a Division I program - Simi Bakare (RB - Missouri), Zach Hartsfield (TE - Eastern Michigan), Jacob Isaia (OL - Michigan State), Nikko Remigio (WR - Cal), Matt Robinson (QB - Illinois), Andres Fox (DL - Stanford), Cam Lockridge (DB - Hawai'i), and Raymond Scott (LB - USC).
- With 25 players with degrees, Fresno State is second in the FBS in terms of graduates on a 2022 football roster.
- Fresno State had two first-year junior college additions start in the game at UConn in Daniel Taumalolo (College of San Mateo) and left tackle Jacob Spomer (Diablo Valley JC). The Bulldogs are one of just three schools (Illinois and UTSA) to have a pair of JUCO starting offensive linemen this season.
- Fresno State has now had two true freshmen start on the interior defensive line (Gavriel Lightfoot and Jacob Holmes). It is the first time since 1997 that a true freshman has started on the interior offensive line, and the first time since 2018 that a true freshman has started anywhere on the defensive line.
- In its longest dry spell since 2009, the Fresno State defense got its first turnover of the season in the second quarter. Fresno State would gain two turnovers in the game with the first one coming on a strip sack by CB Bralyn Lux that was eventually recovered by DT Jacob Holmes.
- Lux became the first Bulldog defensive back to record a sack in a game since Juju Hughes against San Jose State in 2017. Lux is one of just six DBs from around the FBS to record a sack this season, and the only one from the Mountain West.
- For the first time since 2013, Fresno State had a punt returned for a touchdown.
- Fresno State's kickoff and punt return game hasn't been something that people talk about in a positive way over the years, because there hasn't been too much to talk about until now. It has been nine years since Fresno State's last punt return for a touchdown, but Remigio got that taken care of for us. Now, the Bulldogs are looking for their first kickoff return for a touchdown since 2008.
- Davante Adams, a two-time collegiate All-American, five-time NFL Pro Bowler and two-time Associated Press All-Pro First Team selection, will have his #15 jersey retired at Fresno State's Oct. 15 homecoming game against San Jose State at Valley Children's Stadium.Adams' #15 jersey will be the ninth Bulldog Football jersey to be retired in the history of the program, joining #4 Derek Carr, #8 David Carr, #9 Kevin Sweeney, #12 Trent Dilfer, #14 Vince Petrucci, #21 Dale Messer, #22 Lorenzo Neal and #83 Henry Ellard.
