'Dogs open series with four-run win

Fresno State (8-10, 2-2 MW) won its Mountain West home opener for the second straight season getting 10 hits as a team with four Bulldogs notching two hits apiece.
Zach Morgan moved his hitting streak to 12 games with his 11th multi-hit game of the season. Tommy Hopfe smacked his second home run in the last three games and scored two runs while Ivan Luna and Travis Welker added a pair of hits each.
On the mound, Ixan Henderson turned in another stellar performance earning his fourth win of the season tossing a career-high 6.2 innings. He limited Nevada to four hits, one earned run, two walks and struck out seven. Hopfe closed out the game working the final 2.1 innings.
How It Happened
Jumping on Nevada starting pitcher Cam Walty early, the 'Dogs raced out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI base knock from Luna followed by a two-run RBI triple from Vinny Bologna.
Two more runs came across for the 'Dogs in the second with Luna driving in two more RBIs on a hard-hit grounder to first. A bases-loaded hit by pitch from Henderson in the third brought in the Wolf Pack's first run and with Nevada threatening for more runs, a flyout to left ended the frame.
The Bulldogs moved their lead back to five with Hopfe's leadoff home run in the fifth and after a pair of scoreless innings, Nevada brought across its final run in the eighth. Hopfe retired the next four batters to close out the game.
