Fresno State (9-11, 3-3 MW) used back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the ninth in game one winning on a walk-off long ball from Josh Lauck. Game two saw Nevada use a two-out RBI single by Pat Caulfield in the top of the 10th to break up a 6-6 tie game.
The 'Dogs were held to six hits in game one and tacked on 10 more in game two. After seeing his 12-game hitting streak come to an end in game one, Zach Morgan responded with a three-hit performance in game two and drove in the tying-run in the bottom of the ninth with an RBI single to left-center.
Jake Dixon got the start in game one tossing a season-best 7.0 innings limiting the Wolf Pack to five hits, one run and struck out seven before Trevor Garcia threw the final two innings to earn his first win as a Bulldog.
Game two saw six pitchers with Roman Angelo getting the start and going five innings before giving way to Zach Statzer, Nikoh Mitchell, Robbie Peters, Matt Ottino and Cooper Bergman.
How It Happened
A true pitcher's duel broke out in game one between Dixon and the Wolf Pack's Jacob Biesterfeld as each hurler went seven innings apiece. A leadoff home run by Nevada's Josh Zamora in the second was the lone score through the first seven innings and the Wolf Pack made it 2-0 with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Coming to the plate in their final at-bat in the bottom of the ninth, the 'Dogs offense woke up getting a leadoff single from Vinny Bologna followed by a two-run home run to left from Payton Allen to tie the game. Lauck followed with the game-winning home run to give the 'Dogs their first walk-off win of the season.
Game two saw the 'Dogs jump out to a 5-1 lead after four innings plating three runs in the third and adding two more in the fourth. The Wolf Pack did not quit answering back with a five-run sixth to take their first lead of the contest at 6-5.
Again down to their final at-bat, the 'Dogs knotted the game at six thanks to Morgan's RBI single that drove home Travis Welker and forced extra innings.
The Wolf Pack were able to lead off the 10th with a single from Ryan Jackson and after moving to second on a sacrifice bunt, Caulfield drove in Jackson for the game-winning run as the 'Dogs were retired in order in the bottom of the frame.
