FRESNO, Calif. - A two-out RBI single in the seventh inning by Air Force proved to be game-winning run as the Falcons knocked off the Bulldogs, 4-3 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.

With the Diamond 'Dogs celebrating Pete Beiden Legacy Day, Fresno State (13-14, 7-5 MW) clawed back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game with three runs in the sixth, but were unable to push any more runs across over the final three innings.

Held to eight hits in the contest, Ivan Luna smacked his fourth home run of the season adding a single while Payton Allen notched a single, double and RBI.

On the mound, Roman Angelo worked into the seventh inning tossing six innings allowing six hits, four runs and struck out three, but was the tough luck loser suffering his first loss of 2022.

Robbie Peters, Trevor Garcia and Cooper Bergman each tossed one inning apiece to round the hurlers.

How It Happened
The Falcons jumped on the board first with a pair of runs in the third on a solo home run and a sacrifice fly and made it 3-0 in the fourth scoring on a fielder's choice.

After Air Force starting pitcher Seungmin Shim held the 'Dogs scoreless for five innings, Mason Grotto was able to lead off the sixth with a walk to chase Shim from the game. Replaced by Zach Argo, Luna greeted the new pitcher with a two-run home run to right-center to cut the Falcons' lead to one. Allen followed three batters later tying the game with an RBI double right-center.

With Angelo giving up a leadoff single in the seventh, Peters replaced him and was able to get a pair of outs, but a two-out RBI single to center by Gabriel Garcia drove in a run for a 4-3 lead.

The Bulldogs made one final attempt to tie the game in the ninth with Allen leading off with a single. Blake Wink came on to pinch-run as the junior was able to swipe second and move to third on a balk, but Josh Lauck went down on strikes to end the game.
