Bulldogs drop 2-0 result in Seattle

SEATTLE – The Pacific Northwest has been unkind to the Fresno State soccer team for the second year in a row after dropping a 2-0 result to Seattle U on Saturday night at Championship Field. The Bulldogs finished both season-opening trips 0-2-0.
How It Happened
Fresno State opened the game aggressive, rarely allowing Seattle to get anything going in the Bulldogs' defensive half during the first 15 minutes. The 'Dogs racked up four of their seven shots early in a seven-minute span as the Redhawks' defense was put under fire.
The Bulldogs were unable to strike first despite the pressure and Seattle caught the 'Dogs in the 33rd minute with a long ball from its box and a 1-2 down the right flank that led to a goal form a Brooke Wilson who narrowly outpaced Jordan Lau to the loose ball in front of Ella Wilson. Kassandra Ceja looked to equalize in the six minutes later on a free kick from 35 yards out but her attempt was palmed up and over the crossbar.
With two minutes left in the half, Fresno State got an unlucky break as Lorena Montanes was taken down on the edge of the box but it was ruled to be outside.
The Redhawks continued their direct play into the second, and after pressure early on, doubled their lead with a centering cross into the box to Hallie Berfgord in the 56th minute. The Bulldogs were unable to find an answer as they were outshot 5-2 during the final 40 minutes.
Scoring Summary
32:04 – Brooke Wilson (Monique Nagel)
55:38 – SU – Hallie Bergford (Taylor Marks)
