BULLDOG BONES
- 3,026.7 miles separate Valley Children's Stadium (Fresno, Calif.) and Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field (East Hartford, Conn.). This week's road trip marks the longest trip for a game in Fresno State football program history. The Bulldogs are playing their farthest game east since playing at Rutgers in 2008.
- Fresno State has started the season 1-2 for the first time since 2019, but it is the first time that the Bulldogs opened the season with a win but followed with back-to-back losses since 2017.Â
- Saturday will be the 14th game against an FBS Independent program for Fresno State. The Bulldogs enter with a 9-4 overall record in those games, and are winners of eight of their last nine. The 'Dogs last win came against UConn in the 2021 season opener (Aug. 28).
- Fresno State is playing its second game of the season on CBS Sports Network. All 12 regular season games are being broadcast on national television for the first time in program history.Â
- Fresno State has a female play-by-play announcer on the TV broadcast for the first time since 2010 - Beth Mowins in Fresno State's Sept. 4 game against Cincinnati.Â
- With Haener leaving the game to injury last time out, sophomore quarterback Logan Fife stepped in and finished out the game. Coming out of the bye week, and into game week preparation, Fife is expected to remain as the Bulldogs' starting quarterback for the Oct. 1 game at UConn.Â
- Senior running back Jordan Mims has had back-to-back 100-yard rushing games, for the second time in his career. Against Oregon State (Sept. 10), Mims had 122 yards rushing and at then-No. 7 USC (Sept. 17) Mims had 114 yards rushing. His last 100-yard rushing performance marks the sixth of his career.Â
- Mims currently sits as 15th in career rushing yards (2,229). Mims also works in the receiving game, moving up the ranks in receiving stats by a RB - pass receptions (77 - sixth most), receiving yards (897 - third most) and receiving TDs (8 - third most).Â
- Very out of character for a Bulldog defense that has traditionally played tough and to the ball, Fresno State has not forced a turnover in three-straight games for the first time since 2009 (vs. Utah St., Idaho & Nevada, 10/31-11/14).
- This season, redshirt sophomore Abraham Montano handles all kicking duties as the Bulldogs' primary kicker. He is 5-of-9 on his field goal attempts, and 9-of-10 on PAT attempts. While on kickoffs, Montano has 18 kickoffs for 1,141 yards and 11 touchbacks.Â
- Senior wide receiver Nikko Remigio is ranked third in the Mountain West and 16th in the FBS in kickoff returns, averaging 27.1 yards per return this season.
- Six new Bulldogs appear on the Game 4 two-deep - QB Jaylen Henderson, RT Rolan Fullwood, DT Johnny Hudson Jr., DE Da'Marcus Johnson, LB Phoenix Jackson and DB Steven Comstock.
