BULLDOG BONES
SHADING TEAMS UNDER 50
In the last three seasons, Fresno State has held just three opponents under 50 points. Eight Bulldog opponents have left games a bit gray this season after being held under 50 points. It is the first time the 'Dogs have held at least eight under the 50-point mark since 2014-15 (8), Jaime White's first season in Fresno. The difference--that team did it in 33 games.
HISTORICALLY STRONG DEFENSE
By holding eight opponents below 50 points this season, it ranks tied for the fourth-most such occurrences in program history. While it may seem impressive having done that in 18 games, even more impressive that it has been done during an age of offense.
IN A DIFFERENT DEFENSIVE CLASS
Through 18 games, Fresno State is holding teams to 55.8 points per game. While more than half of the season has been played the Bulldogs are holding teams to more than three points less per game than the program record of 59.0 ppg.
TOUGH SLEDDING ON THE ROAD
The Bulldogs have had a tough go of things away from Fresno this season with a 1-6 record outside of the Save Mart Center. In true road contests they are 0-5. Looks can be deceiving though as four of those games have been decided by six points or less.
TWO-WAY PLAYER
Fresno State coaches knew that Amaya West would bring defense when they brought her in after four years at Nevada. What the fifth-year senior has also brought to Fresno is an offensive game that wasn't used much in Reno. In her last season in the Mountain West, the Mesa, Ariz. native has shown off her full array, averaging14.8 points and 2.6 steals per through the first five games.
