The Diamond 'Dogs are coming off opening Mountain West play at San Jose State over the weekend dropping a pair of games to the Spartans.
The 'Dogs return home to host Pacific on Tuesday for the second of five midweek home games this season.
Fresno State is 4-1 at home this season with three wins over Nebraska Omaha and a 7-5 victory over San Francisco last Wednesday.
The 'Dogs rank second in the MW and rank 32nd nationally in ERA (3.48) while also checking in second in the conference in strikeouts per nine innings (2.82).
Preseason All-MW selection Ixan Henderson leads the Mountain West with 20 strikeouts.
Junior Tommy Hopfe leads the 'Dogs hitting .293 from the plate with a team-leading 12 hits with six extra-base knocks and leads the team with seven RBI.

A look at the Pacific Tigers
Pacific is off to a 4-6 start to the season after sweeping New Mexico State on the road this past weekend defeating the Aggies, 6-4, 4-3 in 10 innings and 13-4.

The Tigers were picked to 10th in the preseason WCC poll after going 14-38 in 2022 and finished 5-22 in the conference for a 10th-place finish.

Pacific is hitting .319 from the plate as a team to lead the WCC and rank 23rd nationally. The Tigers are averaging 5.7 runs and are second in the WCC in hits (112) & third in on-base percentage (.394).

On the mound, the Tigers have a 7.71 team ERA while opponents are averaging 9.3 runs per contest and hitting .325 from the plate.

Six different pitchers have made starts on the season with senior left-hander Grant Stevens leading the team in innings pitched (13.1) and strikeouts (10).

Senior right-hander Marvcus Guarin will make his first start of the season on Tuesday and has made a pair of appearances this season striking out four in 2.2 innings and has not allowed a run.

Arreola off to a stellar start
In four relief appearances, the redshirt freshman from San Diego has tossed seven scoreless innings allowing one hit, struck out five and held opponents to a .048 average.

Hopfe shining both at the plate and on the mound
While leading the team offensively, Hopfe has also been solid on the mound in the early season, converting a pair of saves in three appearances and has four strikeouts in four innings.

New 'Dogs in action
The Bulldogs welcome 18 newcomers to the team this season with seven transfers and 11 freshmen set to make their debuts at Fresno State.

Ten Bulldogs have made their debuts so far this season in pitchers Jack Anker (Tulare Western), Jaykob Acosta (CSU Bakersfield, Bryce Armstrong (Washington) & Aidan Cremarosa (Burbank), catcher Matt Gonsalves (San Ramon), outfielders Michael McKernan (College of the Sequoias) & Grady Morgan (Butte JC), infielders Murf Gray (Madera) and Jaden Sheppard (Pleasanton) and designated hitter Sammy Augustine (Modesto).
