'Dogs have strong opening performance at Sunbird Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State track and field team opened its outdoor season at the Sunbird Invitational on Saturday.

The Bulldog men picked up three event wins. Marcus Jauregui won the 800m in a time of 1:55.79. Jacob Diaz took second in the event with a time of 1:57.19. Jabari King kept his long jump title at the event, measuring a 7.29m jump.

The men's 4x400 relay team of Bronson Ortlieb, Jazper Malone, Keilin Davis and Joziah Hagedorn won the event in 3:17.52.

Josh Dunu took second in the triple jump with a jump of 13.71m. Kamoni Reams also took second in the high jump with a jump of 1.88m. Jamarcus Phillips took second in the discus, throwing for 48.25m on Saturday.

In the men's 1500, Elijah Williams took third with a personal-best time of 3:59.66.

Highlights on the women's side included a third place finish in the 100m hurdles by Breelyn Newsome in 14.60 seconds. Zoe-Analia Goldsmith took fourth in the 200m in 25.09. In her first outdoor race as a Bulldog, Hayden Craft took fourth in the 400m with a time of 59.85.
