'Dogs drop midweek at Cal Poly, 13-3

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team dropped a midweek contest to Cal Poly, 13–3, on Tuesday evening at Baggett Stadium.
The Bulldogs recorded seven hits in the game and built an early lead, but the Mustangs broke the game open in the middle innings to pull away. Fresno State moved to 7–8 on the season with the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first inning, Fresno State struck first in the second. The Bulldogs pushed across two runs to take an early advantage, with Marcus Nolen driving in a run and Sky Collins later adding an RBI to give Fresno State a 2–0 lead.
Cal Poly responded in the bottom half of the inning to trim the deficit, but the Bulldogs added another run in the third inning to extend the lead to 3–1. Griffen Sotomayor and Jett Ruby helped spark the offense early as Fresno State collected multiple hits through the first three innings.
The Mustangs seized control beginning in the third inning, stringing together hits to score multiple runs and flip the momentum. Cal Poly continued to capitalize on opportunities in the fourth and fifth innings, scoring in bunches to take a commanding lead. Fresno State's bullpen worked through the late innings to stabilize things, but the early surge by the Mustangs proved decisive.
Fresno State finished with three runs on seven hits while Cal Poly totaled 13 runs on 12 hits.
