Nevada completes series sweep of Fresno State with 9–4 Win

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State Bulldogs baseball fell to Nevada Wolf Pack baseball, 9–4, on Sunday afternoon at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium, as Nevada completed the three-game Mountain West sweep.
With the loss, Fresno State dropped to 7–11 overall and 0–3 in conference play, while Nevada improved to 11–6 and 3–0 in the Mountain West.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nevada struck first in the opening inning with an RBI single from Shintaro Matsuzaki to take a 1–0 lead. Fresno State answered immediately in the bottom half when Michael Boyd grounded out to first base, bringing home Jett Ruby to tie the game at one.
The Wolf Pack regained control in the second inning on a two-run home run from Lucas Waller, pushing Nevada ahead 3–1. Fresno State battled back in the third. Boyd led off with a double, and Sky Collins followed with a walk before Cam Schneider ripped a double down the left-field line to score both runners and even the score at 3–3.
Nevada broke the game open in the fourth inning. After two runners reached, Trenton Dobie delivered a three-run double to left field to give the Wolf Pack a 6–3 advantage. Nevada added insurance runs later in the game, including a sacrifice fly in the sixth and solo home runs from Austin Doyle in the seventh and ninth innings.
Fresno State picked up its final run in the eighth inning when Austin Young scored on a wild pitch after Owen Faust singled and advanced into scoring position. The Bulldogs were unable to mount a late rally, as Nevada closer Eric Valdez shut the door over the final three innings.
