Going out with a bang
Senior Tearra Haney has had a productive year in 2026, as her collegiate career nears its end. Last weekend, Haney saw two personal-best marks in the discus and hammer throw. She opened the UC Santa Barbara Invite with a third place finish in the discus. She saw a toss of 49.74m/163-2 on her first attempt. It was a career-long throw for the senior Bulldog. The following day, she took fourth in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 55.94m/183-6 on her fourth attempt.
Â
Competing in three throws events throughout the spring, Haney has had 11 Top 10 finishes out of 12 events this spring. She is searching for her first win of the season, in any event.
Â
A look at the record book
A handful of Bulldogs have posted Top 10 marks this season:
Jumping Queen
Coming off of her indoor title, junior Liz Tarczy has switched gears into the outdoor season. She currently has the No. 2 mark all-time at 1.83m/6-0, set last spring. The current program record is 1.86m/6-1.25, and has been untouched since 1987. At the West Coast Relays, Tarczy won the event with a jump of 1.82m/5-11.5. She is currently 25th nationally and second in the MW.
Â
Big throw Zoe
Zoe Yeast has been a star in her first outdoor season for the Bulldogs. After redshirting the outdoor season last year, she has finished in the Top 3 in all but one of her meets this spring. She has earned two wins on the year, including a win at the West Coast Relays. The Louisville transfer has just this year of eligibility remaining and is making the most of it. She saw a personal-best mark of 61.02m/200-2 in the hammer throw at the Stanford Invitational, taking second place in the field. Her throw was the eighth-furthest throw in program history. It was the second time this season that she bettered her previous mark.
King of the Jumps
Jabari King has been steady in the long jump this season, and posted a season-best leap of 7.51m/24-7.75 to take second at the West Coast Relays. It was his second-straight week with a personal-best, bettering his previous mark of 7.40m/24-3.5 set at the Cal Invitational. His jump from the West Coast Relays is currently third in the Mountain West.
Â
Spotlight for Rhiannon
First-year Bulldog Rhiannon Walker has had a promising first year in a Fresno State uniform. In the indoor season, she set the program record in the 5,000m. Turning to the outdoor season, she has clocked the No. 4 spot in the 3,000m steeplechase. Although no steeplechase race for Walker this weekend, she will compete in the women's 1,500m for the first time since the West Coast Relays. She finished fourth in that race in 4:35.20.
Â
A transfer from Clovis Community, Walker was named the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2024-25 season in the state of California, recognizing her as a stellar cross country and track and field athlete as well as her scholastic accomplishments. It was announced by the organization this February.
