| In leading Fresno State to a milestone victory over No. 4-ranked California, Jelena Pandzic was named gobulldogs.com's Athlete of the Week for Feb. 17-23. Just a freshman, Pandzic continued her outstanding play as a Bulldog by upsetting second-ranked Raquel Kops-Jones of Cal 6-3, 6-2. The win helped Fresno State defeat the Golden Bears for the first time in program history. It also was the highest ranked opponent the Bulldogs ever defeated. Pandzic joined the women's tennis team in January and has won all four of her dual matches at No. 1 singles. Her success allowed her to debut at No. 29 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, released Tuesday. For her efforts, the Split, Croatia, native was also named WAC Player of the Week. | ||
