Junior All-America pitcher Jamie Southern (Clovis, Calif.) was honored as the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week today after a successful weekend on the road yielded a 3-0 record with three shutouts and a perfect game against No. 18 Texas A&M at the ASU Fiesta Bowl Tournament.

Notching her fourth career no-hitter and third career perfect game against the Aggies, Southern struck out 11 of the first 12 batters faced en route to tying the school's single-game strikeout record for a seven inning game (15) in the Bulldogs' 2-0 win.

Southern opened the year with a one-hitter against UMass while striking out six in the 8-0, 5 inning win. She followed that performance up with her second shutout win over Western Michigan and picked up her first 10-strikeout game of the year with 11.

Tallying her second straight 10-strikeout game with 15 versus No. 18 Texas A&M, Southern averaged 11.79 strikeouts per seven innings as she fanned 32 in 19.0 innings of work.

As opponents managed just seven hits to bat only .113 against, the three shutouts recorded moved her up to No. 7 all-time at Fresno State with 43.

Southern, who now owns the school record for most perfect games thrown (3), tossed the program's 55th no-hitter. The last no-hitter, which also was a perfect game, was thrown by Southern who defeated San Jose State, 1-0, on April 13, 2002.

While successful in the circle, Southern wielded her power at the plate as well as she batted a team-high .500 (7-14). Scoring three runs, picking up a pair of doubles and collecting five RBI, she also hit two home runs and drew four walks while totaling 15 total bases for a 1.071 slugging percentage.

Hitting solo shots against Texas State and Syracuse, Southern cracked the school's career charts in home runs as she moved into the No. 9 spot with 11 long balls.
