2017 (Junior): Akins appeared in 58 games for the 'Dogs as a junior... made 50 starts on the season (48 in left field and two at designated hitter.)... ranked fifth on the team hitting .328 from the plate... hit a team-leading 23 doubles to tie for 10th all-time in program history in a single season... ranked sixth on the team with 75 hits on the season... led the team with 35 extra-base knocks as he added one triple and 11 home runs... scored 37 runs and drove in 48 RBIs... totaled 133 bases to rank third on the team... totaled a .581 slugging percentage & a .366 on-base percentage on the season... totaled 20 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI contests on the season... had two of the 'Dogs three five-hit contests on the season with a 5-for-6 performance at Pepperdine (March 7) adding two doubles, two RBIs and scored a run... went a perfect 5-for-5 with a double and two home runs against New Mexico in the Mountain West Tournament scoring a season-best five runs and drove in three RBIs... selected to the Mountain West All-Tournament Team after hitting .409 over five games in the tournament with nine hits, including three doubles and four home runs to go along with seven RBIs, 24 total bases and a 1.091 slugging percentage.
Prior to Fresno State: Appeared in 36 games at Glendale Community College in 2016... hit .379 from the plate... totaled 55 hits on the season adding six home runs, nine doubles, 32 runs, 36 RBIs, 18 walks, 14 stolen bases... totaled a .468 on-base percentage and a .621 slugging percentage... had a .989 fielding percentage as an outfielder... named the Western State Conference South Division Player of the Year... also earned a spot on the All-Division First Team helping Glendale on its way to the second seed in the regional playoffs.
High School: Attended La Salle High School where he was a two-year varsity member of the baseball team... as a senior in 2014, he appeared in 24 games hitting .353 with 24 hits in 68 at-bats, smacking four doubles, six triples, 12 RBIs and scored 16 runs.
Personal: Son of Tshobe & Prince Akins... has one sister, Jordyn ... enjoys doing art in his free time... was on the honor roll in high school... chose Fresno State because it was the best place for him to compete and win ... major at Fresno State is art.
