'Dogs face Matadors on Friday night

• Fresno State hosts CSUN on Friday at the Save Mart Center in the series' first contest since 2012. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT and will air on the Mountain West Network and 790 AM ESPN2.

Bulldog Bones
• Fresno State dropped its first game of the season on Nov. 15, a tightly-contested matchup with Utah, 65-55.
• Junior Bego Faz Davalos led the Bulldogs in points (12), rebounds (10), blocks (4), assists (3) and steals (2). The double-double was the 17th of her career.
• Sophomore Candice White joined her teammate in double figures with 12 points. The two are the only Bulldogs to register double-digit perforamances in both games this season.
• Faz Davalos, White and Tory Jacobs are each averaging double figures.
• After going 0-of-6 from the field in in her first game as Bulldog, freshman Kristina Cavey scored 11 points in 22 minutes versus Utah.
• The Bulldogs were 17-of-21 (.810) from the free throw line. The 'Dogs only hit 80 percent from the charity stripe four times last season, going 1-3 in those contests.
• In each of the past two seasons, the Bulldogs have faced a Pac-12 opponent at home (Washington, 2015), falling in both games by 10 points.
• Fresno State opened the 2016-17 season with a 71-50 win over Biola at home on Friday night.
• In her first game as a Bulldog, redshirt sophomore Tory Jacobs led the Bulldogs with 16 points, 13 which came in the first half as the 'Dogs held an 18-point lead.
• Sophomore Candice White also registered her first-career double-digit game with 13 points to go with career highs in rebounds (5) and steals (3).
• Senior Emilie Volk came off the bench to lead the team in rebounds (6) and assists (4) in addition to scoring nine points.
• With the win, Fresno State is 9-4 since 1996 when opening the season against a team from California.
Series History with CSUN
• Fresno State is 22-4 all-time against CSUN.
• This year's contest will be the first in the series since Dec. 8, 2012 when the Bulldogs defeated the Matadors 68-53 at the Save Mart Center.
• Dating back to the 1970's, Fresno State has won 15 straight games in the series.
• The Bulldogs have lost only one game in Fresno in the series, a one-point defeat in 1975, which started a four-game losing streak for the 'Dogs.
• Since 2001, Fresno State is 5-0 versus the Matadors, while winning by an average of 16 points.
A Look at CSUN
• CSUN is 1-1 on the year and coming off of a nine-point loss (76-67) at home to San Diego.
• The Matadors are led by 2015-16 All-Big West first team selection Channon Fluker. Last season, the 6-foot-4 center became the first freshman in over a decade to be named to the conference's first team in over a decade.
• Fluker is averaging a double-double through two games at 17 points and 11 rebounds to go with 3.5 blocks per game. She is not the only Matador averaging a double-double though, 6-foot-2 foward Tessa Boagni is averaing 10.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.
One the best in the Mountain West
• Two years ago, Bego Faz Davalos was named to the MW All-Freshman Team after breaking three conference block records.
• Last season, Faz Davalos took another step forward as she became the program's third MW Defensive Player in Year in the school's four years in the league as she broke all three of her conference block records, but also broke the record for overall blocks in a season. Along with the Defensive Player of the Year honor, she also earned a spot on the All-MW Team.
• In October, she was selected as one of five players to the preseason All-MW team.
Heading into the season
• Head Coach Jaime White enters her third season at the helm of the Fresno State women's basketball program. She is joined on the bench by Associate Head Coach Mandi Carver who was promoted during the offseason. Laura Dinkins returns for her third seasons as an assistant coach and Tom Perkins was promoted to assistant coach during the summer. Bobby Ratterree (Director of Basketball Operations) and Stephanie Lee (Graduate Assistant) are new additions to the staff for the 2016-17 season.
• The Bulldogs are coming off of a 22-12 season with in which they reached the Mountain West Championship game and earned a trip to the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
• The selection to the postseason tournament was Fresno State's ninth consecutive postseason appearance. With last season's first round win over Santa Clara, it marked the first time in program history that the Bulldogs have won a postseason game in back-to-back seasons.
• Fresno State returns two of its five starters last season. Of the team's eight returners from the 2015-16 season, only two, Bego Faz Davalos and Breanne Knishka saw significant minutes a season ago.
• Of the Bulldogs' top seven players in scoring in 2015-16, the 'Dogs lost 42.8 points of its 62.8 points per game.
• The team welcomed six newcomers this year – freshmen Kristina Cavey, Sharae Chalmers, Megan Nilsson, Kateline Noyer, Saraya Smith and sophomore transfer Jordanna Porter (will sit out in accordance with NCAA transfer rules).
• Tory Jacobs, who sat out last season after transferring from Minnesota, is now eligible and will help bolster a young Bulldog backcourt.
• After not having a Bulldog on the Mountain West All-Freshman Team in its first two seasons in the conference, Fresno State had selections on both the 2015 and 2016 teams (Bego Faz Davalos, 2015; Breanne Knishka, 2016).
• Faz Davalos, who has led the MW in blocks during her first two seasons on the court, had a breakout sophomore campaign as the led the NCAA blocks (136) and blocks per game (4.0) on her way to being named MW Defensive Player of the Year, the third Bulldog to earn the award in the team's four seasons in the league.
• The Bulldog center proved last year that she isn't a one-stat player though, Faz Davalos led Fresno State in total points (431), points per game (12.7), offensive rebounds (107), defensive rebounds (211), total rebounds (318) rebounds per game (9.4), blocks (136) and steals (45) finishing second on the team in assists with 85.
