’Dogs ready for pair of weekend road contests

Friday’s 1 p.m. PT match at Portland State can be viewed on BigSkyTV and Sunday’s match at UC Davis is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's soccer team hits the road this weekend to face Portland State on Friday at 1 p.m. PT at Hillsboro Stadium in Hillsboro, Ore., and UC Davis on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Aggie Soccer Field in Davis, Calif. Fans can watch Friday's match on BigSkyTV.
The 'Dogs (0-3) meet Portland State (0-2) for the first time since 2008, when the Bulldogs shut out the Vikings 1-0 in Hillsboro. Fresno State head coach Brian Zwaschka has yet to face Portland State in his Bulldog career and looks to keep the 'Dogs' four-game unbeaten streak against them alive.
The Vikings are the first of two Big Sky Conference opponents this year, as the Bulldogs are scheduled to host Montana for the first time in school history in mid-September. Fresno State is 23-7-1 all-time against the Big Sky. Click here for live video and live stats of the match.
Sunday's match at UC Davis will be the first contest between the teams since 2012, when the Aggies squeezed by the Bulldogs 2-1 in Davis. The last time Fresno State got the better of UC Davis was in 2009 with a 1-0 road shutout. Bulldog Bites
The Vikings are off to a slow start in 2016, following shutouts to CSUN (1-0) and Portland (6-0). Offensively, the team is averaging 3.5 shots per game, while defensively, its goalkeepers combine for a 3.50 goals-against average and 12 saves.
Portland State returns 15 players from last year's squad, including its leading goal-scorer Aurora Bodenhamer. Also returning for the Vikings is Katie Forsee, who was third on the team in shots and shots on goal last season. In the net for the Vikings is redshirt sophomore Abbie Faingold and redshirt freshman Ashton Blanksma.

UC Davis is off to a 2-2 start this season, with wins over Northern Arizona (2-0) and Sonoma State (2-1) and losses to Florida Gulf Coast (1-0) and Eastern Washington (3-2 2OT). This season, UC Davis returns 17 players from last year's team, including four seniors and sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Smith.
