Opening Tip  Â
• Fresno State looks to snap its five-game skid against Colorado State as the Bulldogs host the Rams on Saturday afternoon.
• Both teams enter Saturday having won their last two games, with each claiming Wednesday night's wins with a stop in the final seconds after taking a late lead.
• Saturday afternoon's game will stream live on the Mountain West Network and air on 790 AM ESPN2 with Randy Rosenbloom on the call.
Bulldog Bones  Â
• On Jan. 3, Candice White broke the Mountain West record for consecutive free throws with 61, passing TCU's Emily Carter (2010-11). Her mark is tied for third all-time in NCAA Division I history with Central Michigan's Presley Hudson (2016-17), and is nine shy of the record.Â
• Fresno State is one of four teams in the Mountain West to have a record above .500 through three games. During the next three games, the 'Dogs will face each of the other three teams.
• The Bulldogs are coming off of its toughest season in the Mountain West, finishing 8-10 and seventh in league play in 2017. The team was picked to finish in the same spot when this year's preseason poll was released in November.
• The 'Dogs are 6-3 since starting the season 1-4, including a 4-2 mark to end their nonconference slate.
• The Bulldogs are 6-1 this season in games that are decided by 10 points or less.
• Candice White has scored in double figures in 13 out of 14 games this season. One of the best guards in the conference, she leads the league in scoring at 17.1 points per game and has posted four games with 20 or more.
• Fresno State's quartet of freshmen have accounted for 37 starts this season and rank second, third, fourth and sixth on the team in total points.
Fresno State vs. Colorado State  Â
• The Bulldogs are 7-14 all-time against the Rams.
• Colorado State won both of last season's matchups with Colorado State, defeating the 'Dogs 73-56 on Jan. 18, 2017 in Fort Collins, Colorado and escaping Fresno with a 66-64 overtime win on Feb. 11, 2017.
• The Bulldogs have dropped the last five games to the Rams, its longest losing streak to any Mountain West opponent since joining the league for the 2012-13 season.Â
A look at Colorado State  Â
• Colorado State is 10-4 overall and 2-1 to start conference play.
• Colorado State lost to Boise State 62-58 to open Mountain West play but has since beaten San Jose State and San Diego State on the road.
• Grace Colaivalu is the lone Ram averaging double figures at 11.6 points per game. The redshirt freshman has more than doubled her average in conference play, scoring 23.3 points per game through three games.
• Stine Austgulen is shooting 49 percent from behind the arc (30-of-61) on the season which ranks No. 1 in the MW and No. 6 in the NCAA.
• Once again, Colorado State boasts one of the top defenses in the country, ranking 11th in field-goal percentage defense (33.9) and eighth in three-point percentage defense (25.3).
Winning close  Â
Despite being one of the youngest teams entering the season, Fresno State has gone against the grain when in tight games. The Bulldogs are 5-1 in games decided by 10 points or less, and a staggering 3-0 in games decided by three or less as its youthful core has not wavered in crunch time.
• In each of their three wins that have been by three points or less (Montana, Weber State, Utah State), the Bulldogs have trailed midway through the fourth quarter and games have been tied with under four minutes to play.Â
• The latest that the 'Dogs have taken a lead in a win was versus Utah State on Jan. 3 when they took a one-point lead on a free throw by Candice White with nine seconds to play.
The closer  Â
When games have been on the line for Fresno State this season, Candice White has been the Bulldogs' go-to player in crunch time. The lone junior selected to MW preseason all-conference team, is averaging 5.9 points per fourth quarter this season (3.8 above the next player) and 6.4 in the fourth quarter in wins (4.0 above the next player).
• During the Bulldogs' seven wins, Candice White has led the team in points in the fourth quarter during the five.
• During the last two games in which the 'Dogs have been tied or trailed in the final minute, White scored five points against Weber State and four against Utah State, including the go-ahead points.
They're FREEÂ Â Â
Somewhat of a lost art in today's game, the free throw line has become a spot of consistency for Candice White. After putting together free throw streaks of 15, 16 and 18 during the 2016-17 season, Candice White has gone above and beyond those marks to open this season. On Jan. 3, with the game on the line, White sank her 60th and 61st straight free throws, the first to tie TCU's Emily Carter who recorded 60 from 2010-11 to set the Mountain West record, and the second to not only defeat Utah State but also set the record. Her 61 consecutive made free throws is tied for third in NCAA Division I history.
• White is nine free throws shy of tying the NCAA Division I record of 70 set by Bowling Green's Lauren Prochaska in 2011.
• White's 61 is tied with Central Michigan's Presley Hudson who also reached 61 this season.
• White stands alone atop the nation's free-throw percentage leaderboard (100%) as no other player is perfect this season from the line.
Finding their rhythm  Â
After starting the season 1-4, the Bulldogs have hit their stride, picking up six of their seven wins during the last eight games while averaging 68.3 points per game during that span.
• During the last seven games (5-2), Fresno State's four consistent starters (Candice White, Maddi Utti, Aly Gamez, Breanne Knishka) have accounted for 45.2 points per game.
• Bree Delaney, a starter early in the year, has come off of the bench to average 9.0 points per contest in the last seven.
Not your typical freshmen  Â
With four freshmen who came in ready to compete from the start this season, head coach Jaime White has thrown her newest group into the fire allowing them to learn on the fly. Fresno State's four freshmen Bree Delaney, Genna Ogier, Maddi Utti and Aly Gamez are collectively averaging 22.23minutes per game.
• Utti, Gamez and Delaney are averaging 29.2, 22.9 and 21.9 minutes per game, respectively, while Ogier is averaging 15.2.
• Like Utti, Aly Gamez moved into the starting lineup during the nonconference season. Gamez started at point guard for the first time this season at UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 30. The two rank second and fourth on the team in scoring with Utti at 9.4 points per game and Gamez at 7.8.
