Bulldog Bones                                                                                              Â
- Like the previous four losses to open a season, Fresno State once again rebounded, this time with a 76-58 win over Cal Poly.
- The 34-point explosion in the second quarter against the Mustangs was the most points the Bulldogs have scored in a quarter since the four-quarter format was instituted for the 2015-16 season.
- Tuesday will be the first-ever meeting between Fresno State and Milwaukee.
- After Maddi Utti produced a career-high 25 points in the season opener, Candice White followed up with a 25-point game of her own a week later. The two are averaging a combined 39.0 points of the team's 74.5 points per game.Â
- Fresno State ranks No. 4 in the NCAA in steals per game, averaging 18.5 through two games.
- With only 27 turnovers in their first two games, the 'Dogs sit at No. 11 in the country in the turnover margin at +12.5.
- Candice White leads the Mountain West and ranks No. 8 in the nation in steals per game (4.5) and No. 37 in points per game (21.5).
- After a two-point difference after the opening period, Fresno State outscored 34-8 in the second quarter to open up a 28-point lead at the half.
- Cal Poly rallied back in the third before pulling to as close at 13 on multiple occasions early in the fourth quarter.
- The Bulldogs controlled the game through their defense, forcing 29 turnovers that were cashed in for 36 points. Candice White tied her career high in steals with while Maddi Utti and Raven Johnson had three.
- White scored a game-high 25 points.
- Coming off of her second season in which she has averaged over 15 points per game, senior Candice White was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watch list as one of the Top 20 shooting guards in the country last month.
- A week later, White was tabbed to the Mountain West preseason all-conference team for the second straight year.
- White was the only player in the league during the 2017-18 conference season to rank in the top 15 in points, rebounds, assists, steals, free-throw percentage, 3-point field goal percentage, 3-point field goals made per game, defensive rebounds and minutes.
- For the Bulldogs, she was a Swiss-army knife, doing a bit of everything for the young pups, as she led Fresno State in scoring (18.9 ppg), rebounding (6.3 rbg), assists (2.7 apg), steals (1.5) per game, and free-throw percentage (91.9) and made 3-pointers (74).
- Candice White has scored 43 points through two games this season after 18 in the season opener at Northern Arizona before following that up with 25 in the home opener versus Cal Poly.
- She currently sits No. 19 on the all-time scoring list.
- For only the second time in her young career, Maddi Utti recorded at least 20 points in a game, shooting 11-of-16 for a career-high 25 points in the season opener at Northern Arizona. Utti's last 20-point performance came on Nov. 30, 2017 when she scored 20 points (9-of-10) at UC Santa Barbara.
- The sophomore is averaging 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals through two games.
- With 20 steals last week against Cal Poly, the Bulldogs rank No. 4 in the country in steals per game with 18.5 per game.
- Candice White (4.5 spg - 1st), Maddi Utti (3.0 spg - 3rd), Kristina Cavey (2.5 spg - 12th), and Bree Delaney (2.0 - 12th) are all in the top 15 in the conference in steals per game.
- While Fresno State has made a habit of turning teams over early on in the season, the 'Dogs have been done just as well in making their opponents pay for those mistakes. The Bulldogs are averaging 31.5 of their 74.5 points off of turnovers.
- FS is +21.5 in points off turnovers.
