'Dogs serve up 4-1 victory over Aztecs on Senior Day

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State men's tennis team defeated San Diego State 4-1 on Senior Day. The team celebrated two seniors, Xander Veys and Youssef Hassan, Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs finish the regular season a perfect 11-0 at home.
"It's great to finish the season undefeated at home," said head coach Luke Shields. "Our guys have been committed to that goal all year and they made sure it happened today. It feels really good to finish senior day off with a great win at home. Xander and Youssef have been such big pieces to turning this program around. Youssef's passion and leadership is a big reason why we have consistently been moving in the right direction. Xander's work-ethic and commitment has helped us a lot as well. Glad we could make this day special for these two!"
Fresno State improves to 16-11 (5-1 MW) on the season.
Doubles – The Bulldogs took the doubles point.
Youssef Hassan and Mantas Bugailiskis defeated Arnaud Restifo and Davis Hough at the No. 3 position, 6-2.
SDSU evened it with a 6-4 win at the No. 1 position.
Xander Veys and Cagatay Soke clinched the double point at the No. 2 position, defeating Raul De La Torre and Jan Kirchoff in a tiebreaker 7-6 (4).
Singles – Jeremy Moser extended the Bulldogs lead to 2-0 after defeating De La Torre at the No. 6 position in straight sets (6-2, 6-0).
Fresno State took a 3-0 lead over SDSU when Zdenek Derkas bested Arnaud Restifo at the No. 2 position (6-2, 6-0). Derkas remains undefeated in conference play, 6-0.
The Aztecs put their first dent in the scoreboard when Henrique Osorio fell to Gonzalez-Almazan.
Cem Erturk clinched the match for the Bulldogs at the No. 3 position defeating his opponent in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). Erturk is also undefeated in conference play this season, 5-0.
The matches at the No. 1 and the No. 4 positions were left unfinished.
