'Dogs shutout Cowgirls on the road, 2-0

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Fresno State women's soccer team defeated Mountain West foe Wyoming 2-0 on Sunday afternoon, in Madrid Sports Complex.
Fresno State improves to 7-4-2 (3-2-1 MW) on the season.
The Bulldogs set the tone for the match with an early goal from Sydney Lunt, taking a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. Â Fresno State finished the first half with a 2-0 lead, after Tori Nicolo sent the ball to the back of the net in the 28th minute. The Bulldogs' defense limited the Cowgirls to only four shots in the second half, recording their fourth shutout of the season.
Nicolo, Lunt, Kylie Lucero, Audrey Reyna, Megan Amick, Lorena Montanes, Shantay Tamez, Kasidee Wiley, Robyn McCarthy and Emma Chivers chalked the start for the Bulldogs, with Valentina Vivas in the box.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State opened the match firing on offense, taking three consecutive shots. Lunt headed the ball across the goal past the Cowgirls' goalie, taking a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute.
The Bulldogs played strong defense, holding the Cowgirls without a shot for 21 minutes. Wyoming took its first shot of the match in the 22nd minute, Vivas was there to make the save.
Fresno State continued to create offensive opportunities, taking back-to-back shots to outshoot Wyoming 5-1 in the first 30 minutes. Nicolo got a foot on a rebound in front of the goal, sending it in the net to extend the Bulldogs' lead to 2-0 in the 28th minute. Fresno State kept Wyoming off the scoreboard, taking the lead into halftime.
After 45 minutes, Fresno State owned the advantage in shots (8-3) and corner kicks (3-1). Vivas finished the half with one save.
Ele Avery opened the half with a shot on goal, but the Cowgirls' got a hand on it for the save. Fresno State and Wyoming exchanged shots to finish the match. Wyoming was unable to get past Vivas, who tied her season-high with four saves, resulting in Fresno State's third conference win.
