Fresno State plays to 2-2 draw at New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Fresno State women's soccer team finished the weekend with a 2-2 double overtime draw against New Mexico at the UNM Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.
Fresno State moves to 9-5-3 (4-3-2 MW) on the season. The Bulldogs are currently in sole possession of fourth place, putting them in a good position to finish within the top six to earn a spot in the 2019 Mountain West Championship Tournament with one game left in the regular season.
Lunt, Tori Nicolo, Megan Amick, Lorena Montanes, Melissa Ellis, Shantay Tamez, Kasidee Wiley, Robyn McCarthy, Emma Chivers and Danielle Pacheco chalked the start for the Bulldogs, with Alex Best in goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lobos opened the match with three consecutive shots. They used the offensive momentum on their home field to take a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 31st minute.
New Mexico's defense didn't allow Fresno State to take a single shot in the first half, and the Lobos took their one-goal advantage into halftime.
After 45 minutes, New Mexico led in shots 6-0. This was just the second time this season that the Bulldogs were held without a shot for a half. Fresno State took more corner kicks 2-0. Best grabbed two saves.
The Bulldogs came out of the halftime huddle firing on offense, taking four consecutive shots, to swing the momentum in their direction.
McCarthy launched a throw-in into the box and Ele Avery slid in and connected to send the ball into the back of the net, scoring the equalizer for the Bulldogs in the 59th minute.
Fresno State stayed on the attack, taking a one-goal lead after Lunt scored off a pass from Jordan Brown in the 78th minute for her fourth goal of the season.
New Mexico wasn't going down without a fight, the Lobos scored the equalizer in the 86th minute to make it a 2-2 match.
Neither team was able to get a shot off for the remainder of regulation, sending the match into overtime.
After regulation, New Mexico held the advantage in shots 13-10. Fresno State owned the advantage in corners 4-0. Milena Zink, who entered the game at halftime, got her hands on four saves.
Chivers tried to end the match for the Bulldogs with a shot right on target in the 96th minute, but the Lobos' goalie was able to make the save to keep the match going.
New Mexico made their attempt at a game-winner in the 100th minute, but missed wide.
The battle between the Bulldogs and Lobos raged on into double overtime.
New Mexico opened double overtime with a shot in the 101st minute, missing high. The Lobos took the final shot of the match in the 107th minute, but missed high again. The match ended in a 2-2 draw as time expired minutes later.  Â
