Bulldog Bones  Â
Through four games this season, the Bulldogs have played just one game in Fresno which makes playing two this week at the Save Mart Center a welcomed occurrence. Fresno State will play six of its first nine games this season away from home.
- The six games is the most away from home during the first nine games of a season since the Bulldogs played seven of the first nine games outside of Fresno to start the 2009-10 season.
Sure-handed  Â
Despite a season-high 14 turnovers in its last outing against Portland, Fresno State ranks 10th in the NCAA in fewest turnovers per game, committing 11.3 per game. Last season, the Bulldogs committed at least 14 turnovers 18 times in their 32 games.Â
- With three guards who can run the point, the 'Dogs expect to be below the 14.3 turnovers that they averaged a season ago.
- Fresno State leads the MW and ranks No. 32 in the NCAA with a 1.27 assist-turnover ratio.
Perimeter fence   Â
While the Bulldogs have struggled to hit their perimeter shots to start the year, they haven't allowed opponents to fair any better. Fresno State has held teams to the 26th-lowest 3-point percentage in the NCAA as opponents have shot just 21.2 percent from deep. That number includes holding Montana 0-of-12 from beyond the arc.
Explosive trio   Â
In two of the last three games, Fresno State's trio of Maddi Utti, Hanna Cavinder and Haley Cavinder have accounted for at least 84 percent of the team's scoring. Against UC Davis, the three scored 62 of the Bulldogs' 73 points in a win (73-65) while they scored 58 of the team's 65 at Portland in a loss (76-65).
- Fresno State is 2-1 when the trio are the team's top three scorers.
- The Bulldogs are the only team in the Mountain West with three players ranking in in the top 10 in scoring.
- Fresno State is one of two teams in the league with two players who have multiple 20-point performances this season.
Filling up the stat sheet  Â
Having been one of Bulldogs' leaders the past two seasons in points, rebounds, assists and steals, Maddi Utti has continued to do just that this year. The junior currently leads the team in points, rebounds, steals and is third in assists. With the second-highest shots on the team with 60, Utti's 55.0 percent shooting ranks third-highest in the MW.
- A force at both ends, Utti is the only the player in the league to rank in the top five in scoring (2nd), offensive rebounds (4th) and steals (4th).
- Utti ranks No. 14 in the NCAA in field goals made with 33.
Ordering up double-doubles  Â
After picking up seven double-doubles during conference play a season ago, Utti posted her first of the 2019-20 season last weekend at Portland with an impressive 29-point, 11-rebound performance in front of a pro-Utti crowd for the Seaside, Oregon native.
- Utti ranks tied for 11th on the Fresno State all-time list for career double-doubles.
- Utti entered the 2019-20 season with the most career double-doubles of active players in the Mountain West.
An enigma  Â
During the past two seasons, Fresno State had gone 1-3 when Gamez did not make a field goal. In the season opener, the 'Dogs got their second win during Gamez's career when she did not make a field goal as she was 0-of-5 against Cal Poly. Three games later though, Gamez finished 0-of-3 at Portland and Bulldogs were handed a loss.
- One of Fresno State's top scoring options during her first two seasons, Gamez has attempted six shots per game this season and is shooting just 20.8 percent from the floor.
- Gamez has scored 21 points through four games but 15 of those came in one game, a 13-point win at Montana in which she led the team in scoring.Â
H&H Â Â Â
Unlike the New York City staple, Fresno State's version of H&H haven't been serving up bagels to start their careers as twins Haley and Hanna Cavinder have combined to average 32.8 points per game this season. The combined average is the highest for a set of twins this year in Division I (26 sets).
- Only one other set of freshman twins is averaging north of 20 points together, LaSalle's Amy and Claire Jacobs who are at 23.6 points per game.Â
- North Alabama's Emma and Ivy Wallen are six points behind the Cavinder's average at 26.8.
- The two rank second and third on the team in scoring and first and third in field goal attempts.Â
- The two opened their careers to combine for 40 points and 41 points in consecutive games.
