The Diamond 'Dogs continue their 10-game road trip on Tuesday evening traveling north to face No. 2 Stanford for the first time since 2013.
FRESNO, Calif. - The Diamond 'Dogs continue their 10-game road trip on Tuesday evening traveling north to face No. 2 Stanford for the first time since 2013.

• Fresno State returns to the field on Tuesday night against No. 2 Stanford coming off winning its first Mountain West series of the season over the weekend topping San Diego State in a pair of games on the road.
• The 'Dogs defeated the Aztecs, 5-4 on Friday night getting the game-winning run on an RBI single by McCarthy Tatum in the ninth inning and defeated SDSU, 2-0 on Saturday thanks to a combined three-hit shutout by Davis Moore and Jaime Arias.

A look at the No. 2 Stanford Cardinal                       Â
Stanford comes into Tuesday's game riding a nine-game winning streak with its last loss coming at home against then-No. 12 Texas on March 7.Â
The Cardinal are off to a 18-3 start to the season getting Pac-12 play started with back-to-back sweeps of Utah and Washington State and sit at No. 2 in both the Division I Baseball and Baseball America polls this week.Â
Stanford, coming off a 46-12 season and a Pac-12 regular season championship in 2018, was predicted to finish second in the conference's preseason poll and has started 9-2 at home as the Cardinal host No. 1 and Pac-12 preseason favorite UCLA this weekend.
As a team, Stanford is hitting .266 as a club, good for eighth in the Pac-12, while ranking fifth in the league in scoring averaging 6.3 runs per game.
Junior Will Matthiessen leads the club in hits (25), doubles (7), RBI (19), total bases (38) and on-base percentage (.432) with senior outfielder Brandon Wulff leading the team with five home runs and a .543 slugging percentage.

Diamond 'Dogs get third shot at a nationally-ranked foe   Â
Having already defeated two nationally-ranked opponents this season, the 'Dogs will have a shot to knock off a third-ranked foe on Tuesday at No. 2 Stanford.
The 'Dogs have not faced an opponent ranked as high as No. 2 since hosting Stanford in 2012 when they were ranked No. 1 at the time. The Bulldogs were able to knock off the Cardinal in the series opener, 7-4 before losing the final two games of the series.
The Diamond 'Dogs have posted ranked wins this season over then-No. 25 Tennessee, 10-7 on March 10 in Knoxville and against then-No. 25 Cal State Fullerton, 5-2 on Feb. 23 at the Tony Gwynn Legacy Tournament.
Davis Moore shines in 2-0 victory at San Diego State  Â
Junior right-hander Davis Moore was sensational on Saturday evening at San Diego State throwing a career-high 8.0 innings allowing only three hits, all singles, zero runs, one walk and six strikeouts.
With the win, the Rancho Cucamonga native improves to a Mountain West-best 5-0 and has a 4.03 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 38.0 innings.
Ashford & Tatum see on-base/hitting streaks come to an end
Ashford and Tatum both entered the weekend riding streaks, but both saw their respective streaks come to an end at San Diego State. Ashford went 0-for-4 on Saturday to end his 19-game on-base streak and a day later, Tatum went 0-for-5 to see his 14-game hitting streak come to an close on Sunday.
Bulldogs to play six-game series against Air Force next weekend
In order to make-up the 'Dogs three-game series at Air Force that was canceled due to weather earlier in March, the 'Dogs and Falcons will play six games in three days in Fresno from April 12-14.

New 'Dogs in action                                          Â
Nine Bulldogs, five true freshman, three redshirt freshman and junior college transfer Nik Cardinal, have all made their debuts so far this season for the Bulldogs. True freshman outfielder EJ Andrews, Jr. has received 10 starts, two in left field and eight in right field while classmates Ryan Higgins, Jeff Jamison, Kyle Prushmeier and Matt Ottino have also seen action.Â
Redshirt freshman Kevin Larson and Robbie Peters have seen action on the mound and redshirt freshman outfielder Dylan Johnson received two starts over the weekend at San Diego State. JUCO transfer right-hander Cardinal saw his first action on the mound against Tennessee and has allowed one hit in 3.0 innings while striking out four.
Ashford named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate
Fresno State Baseball senior outfielder Zach Ashford has been named a candidate for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award, the organization announced on March 22.
Thirty NCAA baseball student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate baseball. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Batesole reaches 800 career win milestone                              Â
Head coach Mike Batesole reached career win number 800 on Feb. 16 in the Bulldogs' 6-3 season-opening win over Utah Valley at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium. Beginning his 17th season at the helm of the Bulldogs this season, Batesole has won 549 games at Fresno State and 256 at CSUN from 1996-2002 for a total of 805 career wins.
In his career, Batesole has won at least 30 games in 19 of his 23 years as a Division I head coach and in 13 of his 16 seasons at Fresno State.
