'Dogs earn ninth-straight win

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The Fresno State men's tennis team extended its win streak to nine after defeating Santa Clara on Sunday. With the 5-2 win, the Bulldogs are now 11-2 heading into conference play.
"We had a great team win on the road against a tough opponent in Santa Clara," Fresno State head coach Luke Shields said. "They are well coached and always a tough opponent on their home courts. It's nice having confidence heading into the conference schedule with nine straight wins."
How It Happened
Doubles
Fresno State took the doubles point to open up the dual, winning matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. The first win came at the No. 3 spot from the pairing of Zdenek Derkas and Henrique Osorio (6-1).
The clinch came at the No. 2 spot from Aleksandr Myagkov and Angus Bradshaw who won 6-3.
Singles
Santa Clara opened up singles play with a win at the No. 4 spot with Arthur Neuhaus taking down the Myagkov 6-4, 6-1.
Fresno State took the No. 2 spot with Dario Huber winning 6-4, 6-2, but the Broncos tied things up again with a win at the No. 3 spot as Dominic Barreto defeated Angus Bradshaw 6-4, 6-2.
However, the 'Dogs won their next three matchups to seal the dual with the first coming from Derkas, 7-5, 6-4. The win put the senior into the Top-10 all-time in singles wins at Fresno State.
Shortly after Osorio clinched the match with a three-set win at the No. 6 spot, 6-7, 6-3, 6-1. The final match was played out and resulted in a No. 5 spot win from Reece Falck, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6.
