RENO, Nev. – With a lead hovering over or near double digits for much of the day, Fresno State saw Nevada, which owns one of the top defenses in the conference, lock-in during the final 15 minutes. Hanna Cavinder led the 'Dogs with a game-high 20 points. Haley Cavinder added a 17 points. The Wolf Pack used a balanced attack four players scoring between 11-15 points.
How It Happened
As Fresno State took its largest lead of the second half at 12, 45-33, with 4:14 remaining in the third quarter, the Wolf Pack answered with six unanswered to close the period as the Bulldogs missed their final seven shots. Nevada extended the run to 11-0 just over a minute into the fourth quarter to pull within one.
Five points from Amiee Book kept the Wolf Pack from grabbing its first lead since early in the first quarter. But Nevada found that lead with 5:20 to play at the free throw line, taking a 51-50 lead. The Wolf Pack shot 4-of-6 from the field in the final minutes, with nine eight points coming from Alyssa Jimenez, and went 9-of-10 from the free throw line.
