'Dogs fall in heartbreaker to Beavers

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State suffered a 35-32 loss to Oregon State in the final seconds on Saturday night at Valley Children's Stadium. The Bulldogs move to 1-1 on the season.
How It Happened
The visiting Beavers got the scoring started in the first quarter with a two-yard rushing touchdown, but the 'Dogs quickly answered back with a six-play, 68-yard drive that saw Jordan Mims punch it in from 42 yards out.
The Beavers responded with a touchdown of their own, but the Bulldogs stayed close with back-to-back drives to end the first half resulting in field goals from kicker Abraham Montano hitting from 21 yards and 23 yards, respectively.
Opening the second half with the ball, the 'Dogs continued to move it offensively putting together an 11-play, 49-yard drive that chewed up more than four-and-half minutes off the clock and saw Montano connect from 43 yards out and put Fresno State ahead, 16-14.
The Bulldogs kept the pedal to the metal on their next drive with a quick four-play, 80-yard drive in 81 seconds that saw Mims get into the end zone for the second time in the contest, this time an 11-yard scoring scamper that extended the 'Dogs lead to 23-14.
The Beavers quickly answered back marching down the field in under two minutes to trim the 'Dogs lead back down to two, but Montano again came through with his fourth field goal of the night connecting from 37 yards out to put the Bulldogs ahead 26-21 with 10:31 to play in the fourth quarter.
After forcing a turnover on downs by the Beavers, the 'Dogs looked to extend their lead to eight on a 52-yard attempt by Montano, but his kick sailed right. Oregon State capitalized marching down the field in 1:50 to score on a 17-yard reception from Chance Nolan to Tre'Shaun Harrison and added a successful two-point conversion to Silas Bolden to put the Beavers ahead, 29-26.
The 'Dogs would not go away going on a quick five-play, 75-yard drive in 45 seconds that ended with Jake Haener connecting with Erik Brooks on a four-yard score to take a 32-29 lead as Montano's point after attempt sailed right.
Taking a three-point lead into the final 58 seconds of regulation, the Beavers used every single second remaining on the clock heading down the field on a seven-play, 73-yard drive that saw linebacker-turned wildcat back Jack Colletto punch it from two yards out as time expired for the walk-off win for the Beavers.
