2021 (SOPHOMORE): Appeared in all 13 games, got the start in the Cal Poly contest (Sept. 11) and at Wyoming (Oct. 16) … recorded 15 tackles, six solo stops … had a single-game high of three tackles on three occasions … had a quarterback hurry against Nevada (Oct. 23) … part of a Bulldog defense who only allowed 20.5 points per game this season, while also holding two opponents scoreless. It was the first time since 2017 that a Fresno State team had multiple shutouts in a season … helped Fresno State to two wins over ranked opponents, both on the road. It was the first time Fresno State defeated two Top 25 opponents in a season for the first time since 2004, and the first time both wins came on the road in the 100 year history of the program.
PRIOR TO FRESNO STATE: Spent two seasons at Oregon State … played in nine career games for the Beavers … made two starts … tallied 12 tackles with one tackle for loss and one pass deflection in his career there … joined the Oregon State program in January 2019, in time for the spring season that year.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Mater Dei High School … 247Sports three-star recruit … letterwinner for head coach Bruce Rollinson … had 97 tackles with 10.5 tackles-for-loss over last two prep seasons … led Mater Dei to a No. 1 national ranking in the country. Mater Dei won the CIF title in 2018 … rated among the top 100 players in the country at his position per ESPN … first-team all-league selection.
PERSONAL: From Sacramento, California … son of Shane and Katina Bennett … father Shane played football at Texas State … has one sibling - Mady … chose to attend Fresno State to be close to home … intends to major in sociology.
