2016 (Freshman): Assumed role of primary handler of kickoffs in the fourth game of the season, Sept. 24 vs. Tulsa, and held that role for the remainder of the season – played nine of 12 games … tallied 29 kickoffs for an average of 61.8 yards per kickoff … totaled six touchbacks … registered a single-game season-high four touchbacks on Oct. 8 at Nevada … two kickoffs fell out-of-bounds in first two career games, respectively, while zero went out-of-bounds over the next seven games.
High School: All-league and all-state kicker in Oregon ... was also an all-league punter and cornerback ... recorded an 80 percent touchback ratio.
Personal: Son of Edith Chezik and Jon Van Valkenberg ... has one sister, Emily ... majoring in environmental science.
