Bio
Fresno State: (2010) After a redshirt season and recovering from an injury performed remarkably...at WAC Championships she threw a season-best to finish second and earned first-team All-WAC accolades...she went on to the NCAA West Regional at the University of Texas and threw a 50-11 (15.52m) to finish 12th and secure a spot in the NCAA National Championships for a second time...went on to the National Championships to throw a personal best of 52-9.5 and placed 13th in the nation...All-WAC Academic award winner. (2009) Redshirt season. (2008) Set a new Fresno State freshman record in the shot put with a toss of 52-5.25 (15.98m) at the NCAA West Regional, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship ... is just the second Bulldog to ever throw the shot more than 50-feet ... placed fourth at the WAC Championship ... an Academic All-WAC honoree.
Prior to Fresno State: Earned three letters in track and field at Selma High School ... competed for Mexico, winning the National Championship, first place Central American and the Caribbean Games in 2004 ... second place at the state meet in 2005 and 2006 ... first place at the state meet in 2007 ... named team MVP in 2005, 2006, and 2007 ... Finalist ESPY[apos]S awards student-athlete of the year ... also named an all-star athlete by the Fresno Bee.
Personal: Born April 3, 1988 in Mexico ... parents are Martha Mayoral and Ignacio Sanchez ... has one brother, Jorge Lopez and one sister, Zulema Lopez ... hobbies include music, sports and watching TV ... lists her favorite athlete as Mexican Olympic 400-meter runner, Ana Gabriela Guevara because as a woman she identifies her struggles with her own...her biggest athletic thrill was achieving a lifetime best at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore....people she most admires are her parents because of their hard work, motivation, and also by setting a good example.
