A look at the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners                    Â
CSU Bakersfield enters Wednesday's contest with a 13-12 overall record and is coming off winning one of three game at New Mexico State to open WAC play. The Roadrunners, who were picked to finish seventh in the WAC preseason poll, are 4-8 on the road this season and will play their first home game since March 11 after playing their last seven games on the road.Â
CSUB is hitting .252 as a club to rank sixth in the WAC and are averaging 8.2 hits per game and 4.8 runs per contest. Senior catcher Jake Ortega ranks fifth in the WAC hitting .421 from the plate and leads the team in hits (32). total bases (38), RBI (14), slugging percentage (.500) and on-base percentage (.489).
On the mound, junior right-hander Noah Cordova will make his first start of the season after making six relief appearances so this season with four strikeouts in 3.1 innings. As a staff, CSUB has a 4.60 ERA with a 1.93 strikeout-to-walk ratio with 231 strikeouts to 120 walks while holding opponents to a .248 batting average.
Ashford & Tatum on hot streaks            Â
Redshirt senior third baseman McCarthy Tatum, who will make his second start of the season on Wednesday, has had a standout performance at the plate so far this season as he is currently on a 11-game hitting streak.
Tatum leads the team in batting average (.371), hits (26), doubles (6), RBI (21), total bases (40) and slugging percentage (.571).
Fellow senior Zach Ashford has also gotten off to a strong start from the plate reaching base in all 17 games this season and is currently on an eight-game hitting streak. On the season, he is hitting .369, fifth-best in the Mountain West, to go along with a team-high 19 runs scored and ranks second in the MW with a .494 on-base percentage.
Jensen has a standout Friday night performance           Â
Junior right-handed pitcher Ryan Jensen is coming off a standout performance last Friday (March 22) matching his career-high with 7.0 innings thrown while limiting San Jose State to three hits, all singles, striking out four and only walking three.
On the season, Jensen has a 3-1 record with a 4.44 ERA and has 25 strikeouts in 26.1 innings thrown.
Ashford named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate
Fresno State Baseball senior outfielder Zach Ashford has been named a candidate for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award, the organization announced on March 22.
Thirty NCAA baseball student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate baseball. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Bulldogs to play six-game series against Air Force in April
In order to make-up the 'Dogs three-game series at Air Force that was canceled due to weather earlier in March, the 'Dogs and Falcons will play six games in three days in Fresno from April 12-14.

New 'Dogs in actionÂ
Nine Bulldogs, five true freshman, three redshirt freshman and junior college transfer Nik Cardinal, have all made their debuts so far this season for the Bulldogs. True freshman outfielder EJ Andrews, Jr. has received 10 starts, two in left field and eight in right field while classmates Ryan Higgins, Jeff Jamison, Kyle Prushmeier and Matt Ottino have also seen action.Â
Redshirt freshman Kevin Larson and Robbie Peters have seen action on the mound and redshirt freshman outfielder Dylan Johnson received his first career start on March 3 in the 'Dogs 6-4 win over UNLV. JUCO transfer right-hander Cardinal saw his first action on the mound against the Vols tossing one inning apiece with three strikeouts and has only allowed one hit.
Bulldogs knock off two ranked opponent for first time since 2015Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
With the Diamond 'Dogs 10-7 win on March 10 in Knoxville over then-No. 25 Tennessee, the Bulldogs knocked off their second ranked opponent of the season after beating then-No. 25 Cal State Fullerton, 5-2 on Feb. 23 at the Tony Gwynn Legacy Tournament.
It is the first time the Bulldogs have knocked off two nationally-ranked opponents in the same season since 2015 when the 'Dogs beat then-No. 8 USC, 14-7 and then-No. 21 Cal, 7-2 within eight days of each other.
Batesole reaches 800 career win milestone                              Â
Head coach Mike Batesole reached career win number 800 on Feb. 16 in the Bulldogs' 6-3 season-opening win over Utah Valley at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium. Beginning his 17th season at the helm of the Bulldogs this season, Batesole has won 549 games at Fresno State and 256 at CSUN from 1996-2002 for a total of 805 career wins.
In his career, Batesole has won at least 30 games in 19 of his 23 years as a Division I head coach and in 13 of his 16 seasons at Fresno State
