Five Bulldogs claim top five pre-seeds heading into 2019 Big 12 Championships

Five Bulldogs grabbed top five seeds for the 2019 Big 12 Wrestling Championship as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
IRVING, Texas -Â The pre-seeding for the 2019 Big 12 Wrestling Championship was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
With the Championships set to be held this Saturday and Sunday, March 9-10, at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Bulldogs will enter the tournament with five 'Dogs seeded among the top five in their respective weight classes.
Leading the way is a pair of No. 2 seeds in sophomore heavyweight AJ Nevills, the 2018 Big 12 runner-up, and 157-pound redshirt freshman Jacob Wright. Grabbing a No. 3 seed is junior Josh Hokit at 197 pounds after finishing fifth at the weight a year ago. Redshirt junior 149-pounder Khristian Olivas, a 2018 NCAA Championships qualifier, and redshirt freshman 184-pounder Jackson Hemauer enter as No. 5 seed in their respective weight classes.
Other seeded wrestlers for the Bulldogs include Isaiah Hokit nabbing the No. 6 seed at 165 pounds while Gary Joint at 133 pounds, Chris Deloza at 141 pounds and Dominic Kincaid at 174 pounds will each be the No. 8 seeds. Redshirt freshman Robert Garcia IV rounds out the field for the Bulldogs as he is unseeded at 125 pounds.
With the Big 12 allocated 53 automatic qualifiers to the 2019 NCAA Championships, each weight will qualify a different number of wrestlers as 125 and 133 pounds will receive five automatic qualifiers each followed by six at 141 lbs., seven at 149 lbs., one at 157 lbs., six at 165 lbs., five at 174 & 184 lbs., seven at 197 lbs. and six at heavyweight.
