Six 'Dogs earn seeds heading into Big 12 Championship

IRVING, Texas -Â The pre-seeding for the 2020 Big 12 Wrestling Championship was announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
With the Championship set to be held this Saturday and Sunday, March 7-8, at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., the Bulldogs will enter the tournament with six 'Dogs seeded in their respective weight classes.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs is senior heavyweight Josh Hokit, a 2019 All-American at 197 pounds, who has earned the No. 3 seed. Two more 'Dogs are in the top five of their weight class with DJ Lloren at 141 pounds and Jacob Wright at 157 pounds each drawing the No. 5 seed.
Greg Gaxiola at 149 pounds was tabbed as the No. 6 seed while Adam Kemp at 165 pounds and Jackson Hemauer at 174 pounds round out the seeded 'Dogs as No. 7 seeds.
Jeremy Trinh (125 lbs.), Lawrence Saenz (133 lbs.), Hunter Cruz (184 lbs.) and Isaiah Perez (197 lbs.) are each unseeded and round out the Big 12 Championship competitiors for Fresno State.
With the Big 12 allocated 54 automatic qualifiers to the 2020 NCAA Championships, each weight will qualify a different number of wrestlers as 125 & 165 pounds will have four automatic qualifiers while 141, 149, 157, 174 & 184 will have five apiece. 197 pounds will get six automatic qualifiers followed by heavyweight with seven and 133 pounds with a league-high eight qualifiers.
