2020-21 (Redshirt Sophomore): Went 6-2 at 184 pounds on the season .. won his first six matches of the season with a fall, two major decisions and three decisions ... fell by an injury default in the quarterfinals at the Big 12 Championship to No. 1 seed Parker Keckeisen (Northern Iowa) ... went a perfect 4-0 at the Cal Poly Round Robin highlighted by a fall over Will Kloster (Cal Poly) in 4:26 ... defeated Tanner Mendoza (Little Rock) in dual meet action with a 10-2 major decision ... also notched a 10-2 major decision over TJ Pottinger (North Dakota State) in dual meet action.
2019-20 (Redshirt Freshman): Ranked third on the team with 20 wins ... collected 19 wins at 184 pounds and one win at 197 pounds ... went 9-8 in dual action ... earned 12 wins by decision, two major decisions, two technical falls and four falls ... took second at the Roadrunner Open going 3-1 ... posted a 5-1 record at the Reno Tournament of Champions ... went 3-2 at the Midlands Championships ... went 4-0 at the Virginia Duals with wins over Maryland, Duke, Old Dominion and Kent State ... earned three wins against Big 12 opponents defeating Casey Jumps (Air Force), Josh Loomer (CSUB) & Noah Cressell (NDSU) ... Most Improved Award.
2018-19 (Freshman): Redshirted.
High School: Cruz earned a pair of Washington High School Class 4A State Championships at Moses Lake High School in Moses Lake, Washington... won the 160 pound weight class as a senior with a 1-0 win in the state finals and claimed the 152 pound title as a junior in 2017 with a 2-1 win in overtime in the finals... also placed third at 160 pounds at FloNationals in Pennsylvania in 2018.
Personal: son of Tracy and Rick Cruz... has one brother, Jackson and three sisters, Kristal, Addie and Anna... enjoys fishing and golfing... earned All-State and league defensive MVP honors in football in high school... favorite athlete is Odell Beckham Jr... biggest athletic thrill was winning his first state title... most admires his high school coach Ariel Garcia because he has always been there for him... education major at Fresno State and wants to be a teacher... wanted to be a Bulldog because of the great coaches and teammates and was the best place to grow... born on Oct. 27, 1999 in Seattle.
