High School: Gandara split his prep career between Poway High School in Poway, Calif. & Cibola High School in Yuma, Ariz. ... earned Arizona Division I runner-up honors at 152 pounds as a freshman at Cibola and sat atop the podium as a sophomore winning the state tournament in 2018 ... moved to California as a junior where he continued his prep career with a fourth-place finish at 152 pounds at the CIF State Tournament in 2019 ... closed out his career as a senior in 2020 with a third-place showing at 145 pounds.
