TULSA, Okla. - Fresno State Wrestling makes its third trip to the Big 12 Championship this weekend in Tulsa, Okla., competing on Saturday and Sunday at the BOK Center.

Five 'Dogs ranked in third NCAA Coaches Panel Rankings/second RPI Rankings
The third NCAA Coaches Panel Rankings were released on Feb. 27 with Hokit leading the way checking in No. 11 in the coaches' panel rankings and No. 9 in the RPI. Lloren sits No. 21 at 141 pounds in the coaches' panel and No. 23 in the RPI.
Wright ranked No. 27 at 157 pounds in the coaches' panel and No. 20 in the RPI. Kemp was tabbed No. 26 in the RPI at 165 pounds and Hemauer rounded out the 'Dogs in the rankings at No. 15 in the RPI at 174 pounds.
Allocations for 2020 NCAA Championships
In addition to the rankings being released last Thursday, the NCAA also announced its allocations for the 2020 NCAA Championships based off each qualifying tournament (seven in total) being awarded automatic bids per weight class based on current year data.Â
After all of the conference tournaments have concluded, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee will meet in-person to select the remaining 43 at-large qualifiers, which will be announced on March 10, while brackets and seeding will be announced on NCAA.com at 3 p.m. PT on March 11. All weight classes will consist of 33 wrestlers. The at-large selections will be made based on the following criteria: head-to-head competition; quality wins; coaches' ranking; results against common opponents; RPI; qualifying event placement; and winning percentage.
Six Bulldogs named First-Team Academic All-Big 12
Redshirt sophomores Jeremy Trinh, Brandon Martino, Beau Colombini & Jacob Wright, redshirt junior DJ Lloren along with redshirt senior Ricky Padilla were six of 81 selections to the Academic All-Big 12 first team on Feb. 20.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
Fresno State at the Big 12 Championship
Six 'Dogs will make their Big 12 Championship debuts for Fresno State on Saturday in Trinh, Saenz, Lloren, Kemp, Cruz and Perez. Lloren wrestled at 133 pounds for fellow Big 12 opponent Utah Valley in 2018 posting a 2-2 record.
Gaxiola will compete in Tulsa for a second time after going 0-2 at 157 pounds in 2018. Wright placed fifth at 157 pounds in 2019 going 2-2. Hemauer, who qualified for the NCAA Championships a year ago, finished fifth at 184 pounds in 2019 with a 4-2 mark in the tournament.
Finally, Hokit will compete in his third Big 12 Championship after placing fifth at 197 pounds in 2018 and fourth a season ago. He is 5-4 overall with a 3-2 mark in 2018 and a 2-2 mark last season.
Fresno State draws more than 2,500 fans per home dual in 2019-20
The 'Dogs wrapped up their home slate against Iowa State on Jan. 31 and Air Force & CSU Bakersfield on Feb. 2. The Bulldogs defeated Air Force, 19-18 at home on criteria while falling to Iowa State, 34-9 and CSU Bakersfield, 26-10.
The Bulldog averaged 2,519 fans per dual over its eight home matches for a total of 20,152 fans at the Save Mart Center this season.
'Dogs finish Big 12 dual season .500
The 'Dogs finished the Big 12 dual season with a 4-4 overall record with wins over Northern Colorado (25-15), Utah Valley (24-19) and Air Force (19-18) at home while defeating Wyoming (22-19) on the road.
The Bulldogs fell to No. 18 Iowa State (34-9) at home and on the road to North Dakota State (28-7), South Dakota State (26-12) and Oklahoma (25-5).
Fresno State finished tied with Wyoming for sixth in the Big 12 dual season as each team went 4-4.
Up next
All of the Bulldogs competing this weekend will look to qualify for the 2020 NCAA Championships which will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. on March 19-21.

Wrestlers in each weight class will be measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn allocation spots for their qualifying tournaments for the championships.Â
The above criteria, in addition to head-to-head competition, quality wins, results against common opponents and qualifying tournament placement are all part of the evaluation process for selection and seeding the committee uses for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
With the Big 12 allocated 54 automatic qualifiers to the 2020 NCAA Championships, each weight will qualify a different number of wrestlers as 125 and 165 pounds will receive four automatic qualifiers followed by five apiece at 141 lbs., 149 lbs., 157 lbs., 174 lbs. & 184 lbs.
