BULLDOG BONES
- Davante Adams, a two-time collegiate All-American, five-time NFL Pro Bowler and two-time Associated Press All-Pro First Team selection, will have his #15 jersey retired at Fresno State's Oct. 15 homecoming game against San Jose State at Valley Children's Stadium.
- Adams' #15 jersey will be the ninth Bulldog Football jersey to be retired in the history of the program, joining #4 Derek Carr, #8 David Carr, #9 Kevin Sweeney, #12 Trent Dilfer, #14 Vince Petrucci, #21 Dale Messer, #22 Lorenzo Neal and #83 Henry Ellard.
- Come game day and it will have been five weeks since Fresno State last hosted a football game at Valley Children's Stadium. The Bulldogs have been away from home since Sept. 10, playing at USC (Sept. 17), at UConn (Oct. 1), and at Boise State (Oct. 8) with a bye week following the USC game.
- Fresno State fell in the battle with Boise State for the Milk Can last weekend, but it gets another chance at hardware this week. Introduced in 2013, Fresno State and San Jose State added to its long running rivalry the "Valley Trophy".
- Despite its 1-4 start to the season and 0-1 start to conference play, Fresno State's hopes at a Mountain West championship title are still in front of it. Five games into the season, and Fresno State has yet to play a game against a West Division opponent. Its first divisional test comes this week against San Jose State for Homecoming.
- Fresno State had just one penalty called against it last time out, and it was a false start call on the very first play of the game. Fresno State had its least amount of penalties called against it in a game since playing at Alabama on Sept. 9, 2017. Saturday's game was just the sixth time that Fresno State had one or fewer penalties in a game since 2006.
- The last time Fresno State lost four-straight games was the end of the 2019 season, when the Bulldogs lost four in a row to end the season. That 2019 season finale was the last game before Coach Tedford announced he was stepping away from coaching due to health concerns.
- WR Jalen Moreno-Cropper is one of 21 players from around the FBS to have active streaks of more than 25 games with a reception. Moreno-Cropper has caught a pass in 28-straight games, a streak that is now third all-time in Fresno State history, having passed Jamire Jordan (2015-17), Davante Adams (2012-13) and Jalen Saunders (2010-11) who sat at 26 games with a reception.
- Fresno State had two first-year junior college additions start in the game at UConn in right tackle Daniel Taumalolo (College of San Mateo) and left tackle Jacob Spomer (Diablo Valley JC). The Bulldogs are one of just three schools (Illinois and UTSA) to have a pair of JUCO starting offensive linemen this season.
- This season, DE David Perales leads the defensive line with 18 total tackles (22 solo). He adds 3.0 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks in the first five games of the season. In his career, Perales has 13.5 sacks with a single-season best 7.0 from the 2021 season. Perales is just 5.0 sacks away from breaking into the Top 10 in Fresno State program history in career sack numbers.
