Scouting Cal Poly
Cal Poly is off to 2-1 start in dual meets earning wins over San Francisco State (29-15) and Buffalo (23-10) while falling to Drexel, 25-21 on Dec. 19 in its last dual meet.
The Mustangs, who have wrestled each of their first three duals at home, are led by senior Tom Lane at 197 pounds as the Garden City, N.Y. native is ranked as high as No. 7 by FloWrestling at the weight and is a two-time NCAA Championship qualifier.
In addition to Lane, redshirt freshman 165-pounder Bernie Truax and sophomore heavyweight Sam Aguilar have collected eight and seven wins, respectively.
Scouting Utah Valley
Utah Valley is 1-3 in dual meets on the season with a 40-3 win over Sacred Heart on Nov. 9 while falling to Purdue (30-12), Big 12 foe South Dakota State (24-12) and No. 4 Wisconsin (31-13).
The Wolverines lineup features three nationally-ranked wrestlers led by redshirt sophomore heavyweight Tate Orndorff who is ranked as high as No. 6 by Trackwrestling. Redshirt senior Tanner Orndorff checks in at No. 18 at 197 pounds while redshirt junior Taylor LaMont is No. 25 at 133 pounds.
Tanner Orndorff is a three-time NCAA qualifier while LaMont and Tate Orndorff have each qualified one time for the NCAA Championships.

'Dogs in Big 12 action
The 'Dogs are 6-9 in dual meet action in three seasons in the Big 12 after recording a win over Northern Colorado on Nov. 30 in their Big 12 opener. Fresno State went 4-4 in 2018-19 and 1-5 in 2017-18 and is 3-4 overall in home Big 12 duals.
Bulldogs against Pac-12 foes
Fresno State will face its first of two Pac-12 opponents on Thursday in Cal Poly and will see CSU Bakersfield later this season. The 'Dogs are 3-5 against Pac-12 foes over the last two seasons with a 2-2 mark in 2018-19 with wins over Cal Poly and Oregon State and went 1-3 in 2017-18 earning a win over Cal Poly.
Hokit places sixth at Midlands Championships
Josh Hokit finished sixth at heavyweight at the 2019 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships on Monday posting a 5-2 mark with two decisions, a major decision and two falls.
Seven 'Dogs earn top-five finishes at Reno Tournament of Champions
Kyle Parco (141 lbs, 2nd), DJ Lloren (141 lbs., 3rd), Jeremy Trinh (125 lbs., 4th), Ricky Padilla (165 lbs., 4th), Hokit (Hwt., 4th), Brandon Martino (5th, 184 lbs.) and Matt Olguin (157 lbs., 5th) all placed in the top five in their respective weight classes on Dec. 15 as the Bulldogs placed fifth as a team with 73 points.
Wright places fifth at Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite
Redshirt sophomore 157-pounder Jacob Wright placed fifth in Las Vegas on Dec. 6-7 going 5-2 in the tournament picking up four decisions and one major decision to become the first Bulldog to place at the prestigious tournament since heavyweight Clint Walbeck took seventh in 2004.
Bulldogs defeat Northern Colorado in Big 12 opener
The 'Dogs won six of 10 matches on Nov. 30 to defeat Northern Colorado, 25-15 in its Big 12 opener at the Save Mart Center.
Fresno State (1-4, 1-0 B12) got four bonus point wins in the dual as Hemauer recorded a fall, redshirt sophomore 125-pounder Jeremy Trinh received a forfeit, redshirt senior 165-pounder Ricky Padilla and Wright each tallied major decisions.
The 'Dogs got back-to-back wins by Lloren at 141 pounds and Gaxiola at 149 pounds as the pair each won by decision.
Wright earns Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week
For the second time in program history, Fresno State Wrestling had a Big 12 Wrestler of the Week after Wright was named the Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 5 after going 3-0 at the AFC Duals/Battle on the Midway on Nov. 1 in San Diego.
Up next
Fresno State travels to the East Coast next weekend traveling to the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va. on Jan. 10 & 11. The 'Dogs will be one of eight teams in the field joined by Duke, Kent State, Maryland, Old Dominion, Penn, No. 25 Rider and No. 23 Virginia.

Pledges for pins is designed to help support the Fresno State Wrestling Program. Proceeds will benefit the Fresno State Wrestling Fund for Excellence along with a portion contributing to the Valley Regional Training Center -- a nonprofit organization that supports Fresno State Wrestling.
It works like this, for example, if you pledge $5 per pin and the team accumulates 40 pins during the season, your pledge will be $200. Throughout the season, pins and pledges will be recorded and a letter will be mailed with your pledge amount and payment information.
