FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs host Duke at the Save Mart Center on Friday at 7 p.m. as the two teams meet for the second time in eight days.

Fresno State hosts Duke on Friday evening at the Save Mart Center.
The 'Dogs are 6-5 in duals this season winning six of their last seven duals, including its last three at home.
Redshirt junior DJ Lloren is on a seven-match winning streak and is 18-3 overall while being ranked as high as No. 16 by Trackwrestling.
Fresno State defeated Duke, 50-0 last Friday at the Virginia Duals in the two program's first-ever dual.

Scouting Duke

Fresno State leads the overall series with Duke, 1-0.
Duke is 0-7 on the season and took eighth at the Virginia Duals last week falling to Rider (47-3), Fresno State (50-0) and Penn (48-3).
The Blue Devils also competed at the South Beach Wrestling Duals on Dec. 29-30 where they fell to South Dakota State, Michigan State, No. 14 Lehigh and No. 15 Minnesota.

'Dogs vs. ACC opponents
Of the six programs in the ACC who have wrestling, Fresno State has faced Duke (1-0), North Carolina (0-2) and Virginia (0-1), but has never faced North Carolina State, Virginia Tech or Pittsburgh.

Virginia Tech checks in No. 3, North Carolina State is fifth, Pittsburgh is 10th, North Carolina is No. 13 and Virginia is receiving votes in the latest NWCA Division I Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.

Fresno State places third at 2020 Virginia Duals
The Bulldogs overcame an opening round loss to Maryland to defeat Duke, 50-0 before topping Old Dominion, 20-15 and Kent State, 16-15 to place third in the field. Lloren, Cruz and Hokit all went 4-0 in the tournament as Hokit used a 13-3 major decision over Kent State's Spencer Berthold to complete the comeback win over the Golden Flashes.

Bulldogs sweep Cal Poly & Utah Valley
The 'Dogs opened the New Year with a pair of dual meet victories at the Save Mart Center on Jan. 2 downing Cal Poly, 24-16 and Big 12 opponent Utah Valley, 24-19.

Fresno State earned six victories apiece in each dual as three Bulldogs went a perfect 2-0 on the evening with Lloren, Wright and redshirt sophomore Brandon Martino at 174 pounds tallying two wins apiece while six other 'Dogs collected one win.

Hokit places sixth at Midlands Championships
Josh Hokit finished sixth at heavyweight at the 2019 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships on Dec. 30 posting a 5-2 mark with two decisions, a major decision and two falls.

Wright places fifth at Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite
Redshirt sophomore 157-pounder Jacob Wright placed fifth in Las Vegas on Dec. 6-7 going 5-2 in the tournament picking up four decisions and one major decision to become the first Bulldog to place at the prestigious tournament since heavyweight Clint Walbeck took seventh in 2004.

Wright earns Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week
For the second time in program history, Fresno State Wrestling had a Big 12 Wrestler of the Week after Wright was named the Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 5 after going 3-0 at the AFC Duals/Battle on the Midway on Nov. 1 in San Diego.

Up next
Fresno State will have two weeks off before returning to action at home against No. 16 Iowa State (4-3, 1-0 B12) on Friday, Jan. 31 and Air Force (2-2, 0-1 B12) & CSU Bakersfield (1-3) on Sunday, Feb. 2.

Pledge for Pins
Pledges for pins is designed to help support the Fresno State Wrestling Program. Proceeds will benefit the Fresno State Wrestling Fund for Excellence along with a portion contributing to the Valley Regional Training Center -- a nonprofit organization that supports Fresno State Wrestling.

It works like this, for example, if you pledge $5 per pin and the team accumulates 40 pins during the season, your pledge will be $200. Throughout the season, pins and pledges will be recorded and a letter will be mailed with your pledge amount and payment information.
