2017-18 (Freshman): Williams finished 6-24 overall on the season wrestling at 133 pounds... went 3-17 in dual meets... went 0-6 in Big 12 duals... tallied three wins by major decision and three by decision... placed third at the Bill Musick Memorial Open with a 2-1 record notching a 12-4 major decision win over Trevor Mattox (Sacramento City) and a 9-7 win over Josh Brown (Cerritos) in the third place match... collected major decision wins over JD Rader (Nebraska-Kearney), 15-7 and Matt Peterson (Southern Oregon), 12-4 at the Reno Tournament of Champions... also defeated Ty Schilling (Cal Poly), 6-2 and topped Joey Gould (Bucknell), 3-2 at the Virginia Duals.Â
High School:Â Williams was a four-year letter winner at Oakdale High School under coach Steve Strange... 2016 CIF State Qualifier at 132 lbs. ... was a four-time Section champion competing at a different weight each season.
Personal: Son of Jenny and Tim Williams... has two brothers, Kevin and Cody... undeclared major at Fresno State.
Coach Steiner's comments: "Mr. Williams is in his first year here at Fresno State and always brings a lot of energy. He will be a positive charge for this team. He is not afraid to work and is looking to earn a spot in the lighter weights. We are excited to see how high he can climb."
