Three 'Dogs crowned champions at Cal Poly Tri-Meet

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Three Bulldogs went undefeated and earned top honors in their weight class on Sunday in the season-opening Cal Poly Tri-Meet hosted at the Mott Athletics Center.
Redshirt senior 141-pounder DJ Lloren went 3-0 with a pair of decisions and a fall while redshirt freshman Kyle Parco also went 3-0 at 141 pounds with two decisions and a technical fall.
Redshirt sophomore Hunter Cruz was a perfect 4-0 at 184 pounds with a fall and three decisions, including a hard-fought 7-5 win in sudden victory in his first round match against Ashton Seely of Utah Valley.
Five other 'Dogs earned wins on Sunday as freshman Haiden Drury notched three wins at 133 pounds while three Bulldogs earned one win apiece at 149 pounds. Redshirt junior Chris Deloza and freshman Anthony Federico both knocked off nationally-ranked Cameron Hunsaker of Utah Valley while freshman Aaron Gandara earned a 6-0 win over Jaxon Garoutte of Utah Valley in his first match.
Finally, redshirt junior Beau Colombini defeated Cal Poly's Kendall La Rosa, 6-2 at 165 pounds in the second round before suffering an injury in his third round match that shut him down for the day.
Notables
The Bulldogs stay on the road next week traveling to No. 18 Stanford on Saturday at 7 p.m. PT.
