GREELEY, Colo. - Fresno State redshirt senior DJ Lloren and redshirt freshman Kyle Parco remained undefeated on the season on Saturday as Lloren earned two wins while Parco picked up three.
Both wrestlers now sit 9-0 on the season as Lloren has five bonus-point victories on the season while Parco owns three such wins.
The morning got started with the 'Dogs picking up one win at Air Force as Parco earned an 8-0 major decision over Bradley Bitting totaling three takedowns, an escape and a riding time point for Fresno State's lone win of the dual.
The day continued in Greeley in the evening as the Bulldogs took on West Virginia in the team's first-ever meeting. Coming off a 21-12 loss at Wyoming earlier in the day, the Mountaineers won nine of 10 matches with Lloren being the lone 'Dog to notch a win defeating Jeffrey Boyd, 4-2 with a three-point third period and a riding time point.
The evening closed out with a dual against host Northern Colorado as the Bulldogs earned three consecutive victories from 133 to 149 pounds, but it would not be enough in a 30-10 defeat to the Bears.
Freshman Haiden Drury pulled a stunning upset of No. 7 Mosha Schwartz, 11-7 at 133 pounds using as a late escape and takedown to seal his seventh win of the season.
Parco followed up with a hard-fought 7-4 win over Chris Sandoval as he broke a 3-3 tie after two periods to surge ahead for the win. Freshman Aaron Gandara closed out the 'Dogs winning at 149 pounds with a 10-1 major decision over Nathan Moore before the Bears would win the final six matches of the dual.
Fresno State closes out the regular season on Feb. 14 at home hosting No. 19 Oklahoma (5-3, 2-2 B12) and Oregon State (3-4) at the Save Mart Center.
