| Sophomore righthander Matt Garza (Fresno, Calif.) has been selected gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week for April 19-25. Garza threw a four-hit complete game shutout in Fresno State's 2-0 win over Hawaii on Saturday. It was his first career complete game performance. Garza struck out a career-high seven batters in the game and walked just one. At one point, he retired 18 consecutive batters, the longest such streak by a Fresno State pitcher this season. For his efforts, Garza was also named WAC pitcher of the week. The victory gave the Bulldogs their 200th win in WAC play. | ||
