Eyes on a Mountain West regular season title
The Diamond 'Dogs will look to wrap up their second Mountain West regular season title in the last four seasons this weekend with a sweep of the Aztecs. With two wins over SDSU, the 'Dogs will be one win at UNLV OR one SDSU loss at home against New Mexico next weekend away from clinching the title.
With only one win this weekend for the Bulldogs, the 'Dogs will take a 0.5 game lead into next weekend and if the 'Dogs are swept, SDSU will take a 1.5 game advantage into next weekend. The Bulldogs would then need a sweep of the Rebels and two losses by the Aztecs to win the regular season.Â
Nolan Dempsey & Davis Moore sweep Mountain West weekly honors
Senior second baseman Nolan Dempsey continued his recent tear from the plate with a standout week hitting .643 going 9-for-14. The San Carlos, Calif., native registered a 1.214 slugging percentage on the week with a double, two triples, a home run, six runs scored, nine RBI and 17 total bases.
Junior right-handed pitcher Davis Moore was dominant against the Wolf Pack on Saturday night tossing his first career complete game while holding Nevada to three hits and one run. He struck out 10, one shy of his career high and tallied seven 1-2-3 innings.

The 'Dogs entered the national rankings for the first time on Monday making its debut in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 coming in at No. 29.
Bulldogs sit atop the MW standings/RPI
After completing its first sweep at Nevada since 2002 over the weekend, the Bulldogs have moved up to a MW-leading No. 49 in the RPI.Â
The 'Dogs remain atop the Mountain West standings at 15-7-1 (.674) sitting 1.5 games ahead of second-place San Diego State (14-9, .609). The Bulldogs' remaining opponents' RPI rankings in the regular season are San Diego State (62) and UNLV (125).
Bulldog pitching staff continues to dominant
The 'Dogs lead the MW in ERA (3.74), opposing batting average (.252), earned runs allowed (161), hits allowed (376), walks allowed (160), doubles allowed (55), triples allowed (4) and saves (16).
In addition, the 'Dogs have given up three runs or less in 20 of its 44 games and are 18-2 in those contests.

Reaching eight runs in three of its four games last week, Fresno State improved to 18-1 this season when scoring at least eight runs. Their loss came on March 9 at Tennessee in a 13-9 loss to the Volunteers.
Ashford plays in his 200th game
Zach Ashford played in his 200th career game on Saturday in the 'Dogs 8-1 win and with 201 games under his belt and at least eight games remaining, his 209 career games played would place him two shy of 10th all-time in program history, currently held by Korby Batesole (211 from 2015-18).
Batesole reaches 800 career win milestone & reaches 30-win plateau
Head coach Mike Batesole reached career win number 800 on Feb. 16 in the Bulldogs' 6-3 season-opening win over Utah Valley at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium. Now in his 17th season at the helm of the Bulldogs this season, Batesole has won 573 games at Fresno State and 256 at CSUN from 1996-2002 for a total of 829 career wins.Â
With the 'Dogs win at Nevada on Sunday, Batesole has won at least 30 games in 14 of his 17 seasons at Fresno State &Â in 20 of his 24 years as a Division I head coach.
Dempsey named CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team
Fresno State senior infielder Nolan Dempsey was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team on May 9. A communication major, Dempsey carries a 3.78 GPA and is now eligible to become a CoSIDA Academic All-American which will be announced on June 6.
Sophomore left-hander Jaime Arias has been named to the Midseason Update for the 15th annual NCBWA Stopper of the Year on April 24. Given annually to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball, Arias is one of 45 pitcher nationally and three pitchers from the Mountain West on the Midseason Update. The finalists for the award will announced on Wednesday, June 5 with the winner revealed on Saturday, June 15.
Bins named to Buster Posey Award Watch List
Junior catcher Carter Bins was named to the Buster Posey Award Watch List on April 2 which is given to the nation's top division one collegiate catcher by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission. The watch list will be narrowed down to the semifinalists announced on Friday May 17.
Ashford named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate
Senior outfielder Zach Ashford has been named a candidate for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award, the organization announced on March 22. Thirty NCAA baseball student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate baseball and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The 10 finalists for the award were named on April 10, but Ashford unfortunately did not make the cut.

Now in his 17th season at the helm of the Bulldogs this season, Batesole has won 573 games at Fresno State and 256 at CSUN from 1996-2002 for a total of 829 career wins.Â
With the 'Dogs win at Nevada on Sunday, Batesole has won at least 30 games in 14 of his 17 seasons at Fresno State &Â in 20 of his 24 years as a Division I head coach.
Dempsey named CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team
Fresno State senior infielder Nolan Dempsey was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team on May 9. A communication major, Dempsey carries a 3.78 GPA and is now eligible to become a CoSIDA Academic All-American which will be announced on June 6.
Sophomore left-hander Jaime Arias has been named to the Midseason Update for the 15th annual NCBWA Stopper of the Year on April 24. Given annually to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball, Arias is one of 45 pitcher nationally and three pitchers from the Mountain West on the Midseason Update. The finalists for the award will announced on Wednesday, June 5 with the winner revealed on Saturday, June 15.
Bins named to Buster Posey Award Watch List
Junior catcher Carter Bins was named to the Buster Posey Award Watch List on April 2 which is given to the nation's top division one collegiate catcher by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission. The watch list will be narrowed down to the semifinalists announced on Friday May 17.
Ashford named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate
Senior outfielder Zach Ashford has been named a candidate for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award, the organization announced on March 22. Thirty NCAA baseball student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate baseball and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The 10 finalists for the award were named on April 10, but Ashford unfortunately did not make the cut.
