'Dogs set to face Bison & Lancers

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs close out January with a road trip to Riverside to face North Dakota State and California Baptist on Saturday.

The 'Dogs split six matches against Little Rock picking up major decisions from DJ Lloren (141 lbs.) and Hunter Cruz (184 lbs.) and a decision from Kyle Parco (149 lbs.), but unfortunately had to forfeit four weight classes falling 35-11 to the Trojans.
'Dogs in the national rankings
Two Bulldogs are in the national rankings as Lloren checks in No. 13 by FloWrestling and The Open Mat and is No. 16 by Trackwrestling & InterMat.
Cruz joined the Trackwrestling rankings this week at 184 pounds at No. 31 and is also ranked No. 31 by The Open Mat.
Fresno State in Big 12 action
Fresno State, who is 22-36 overall in dual action over the last three-plus seasons, is 9-13 in Big 12 action over that span and wrestles its first of five Big 12 duals against NDSU.
The Bulldogs are 0-2 against the Bison all-time with a 21-20 loss at home in 2018-19 and a 28-7 setback last season in Fargo. Cruz was one of three 'Dogs with a win last year as he topped Noah Cressell, 5-2 at 184 pounds.
'Dogs series vs. California Baptist
This will be Fresno State's second meeting against CBU after the 'Dogs posted a 43-0 shutout at home on Jan. 3, 2019.
A look at the Bison
North Dakota State comes into Sunday with a 2-2 overall dual mark and a 1-1 record in Big 12 defeating South Dakota State while falling to No. 23 Northern Iowa. The Bison have also defeated Oregon State and lost to No. 12 Missouri.
Four Bison are in the national rankings as sophomore Jared Franek leads the way at No. 13 at 157 pounds and junior heavyweight Brandon Metz is No. 15 and comes in with a 2-2 record. Dylan Droegemueller (141 lbs.) and Kellyn March (133 lbs.) are also in the rankings for the Bison as Droegemueller join Franek and Metz as returning NCAA Tournament qualifiers.
A look at the Lancers
The Lancers, who fell to No. 21 Stanford on Thursday in San Luis Obispo, 24-12, is 0-4 on the season in duals also falling to Utah Valley, Northern Colorado and Cal Poly.
California Baptist, who will also wrestle NDSU on Saturday, is in its third year of transition to Division I from Division II and notched a program-first on Tuesday with its first nationally ranked wrestler in redshirt senior heavyweight Zach Schrader who is No. 25 by FloWrestling.
