'Dogs drop duals to NDSU & CBU

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Fresno State earned four victories against North Dakota State and added two more against California Baptist on Saturday in duals at Van Dyne Gym.
The 'Dogs got off to a hot start against the Bison in their Big 12 opener with a fall by redshirt freshman Anthony Molton, his first as a Bulldog, in 5:31 over NDSU's McGwire Midkiff.
Freshman Haiden Drury followed that up with a 7-3 win over No. 19 Kellyn March as he broke a 2-2 tie after two periods to erupt for four points and added a riding time point to knock off the nationally ranked true freshman for the Bison.
The winning continued at 141 pounds with DJ Lloren using an escape and takedown in the third period to earn a 6-3 win over No. 21 Dylan Droegemueller and give the 'Dogs a 12-0 lead in the dual.
The Bison answered back with four straight wins to take a 17-12 lead, but a 6-1 win from Hunter Cruz at 184 pounds brought the 'Dogs back with two before NDSU closed out the duals with falls at 197 pounds and heavyweight for a 29-15 win.
The 'Dogs tallied two more wins against California Baptist as Drury earned his second win of the day using an escape with one second left in the third period for a 5-4 win over Christian Nunez.
Kyle Parco followed with a 18-2 technical fall at 141 pounds in 2:46 to stay perfect on the season at 6-0, but the Lancers claimed the final seven matches of the dual for a 35-8 win.
The 'Dogs complete the road portion of the regular season next weekend traveling to Colorado for duals against Air Force (0-3, 0-3 B12), West Virginia (4-2, 0-1 B12) and No. 17 Northern Colorado (3-0, 2-0 B12).
