'Dogs sweep Cal Poly & Utah Valley
The 'Dogs opened the New Year with a pair of dual meet victories at the Save Mart Center on Jan. 2 downing Cal Poly, 24-16 and Big 12 opponent Utah Valley, 24-19.Â
Fresno State earned six victories apiece in each dual as three Bulldogs went a perfect 2-0 on the evening with Lloren, Wright and redshirt sophomore Brandon Martino at 174 pounds tallying two wins apiece while six other 'Dogs collected one win.
Fresno State against Big Ten opponents
Fresno State will wrestle their seventh dual against a Big Ten opponent since returning to the mat in 2017-18 after facing Illinois and Minnesota two seasons ago, Rutgers and the Golden Gophers last season and Wisconsin and the Scarlet Knights earlier this season. Fresno State fell 31-8 to the Badgers while coming up short against Rutgers, 23-13.
Bulldogs at 2018 Virginia Duals
The Bulldogs went 1-5 at the Virginia Duals defeating Bucknell, 37-9 while falling to Lock Haven, Oklahoma, Kent State, Virginia and Iowa State.
Hokit places sixth at Midlands Championships
Josh Hokit finished sixth at heavyweight at the 2019 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships on Monday posting a 5-2 mark with two decisions, a major decision and two falls.
Seven 'Dogs earn top-five finishes at Reno Tournament of Champions
Kyle Parco (141 lbs, 2nd), DJ Lloren (141 lbs., 3rd), Jeremy Trinh (125 lbs., 4th), Ricky Padilla (165 lbs., 4th), Hokit (Hwt., 4th), Brandon Martino (5th, 184 lbs.) and Matt Olguin (157 lbs., 5th) all placed in the top five in their respective weight classes on Dec. 15 as the Bulldogs placed fifth as a team with 73 points.
Wright places fifth at Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite
Redshirt sophomore 157-pounder Jacob Wright placed fifth in Las Vegas on Dec. 6-7 going 5-2 in the tournament picking up four decisions and one major decision to become the first Bulldog to place at the prestigious tournament since heavyweight Clint Walbeck took seventh in 2004.

Pledges for pins is designed to help support the Fresno State Wrestling Program. Proceeds will benefit the Fresno State Wrestling Fund for Excellence along with a portion contributing to the Valley Regional Training Center -- a nonprofit organization that supports Fresno State Wrestling.
It works like this, for example, if you pledge $5 per pin and the team accumulates 40 pins during the season, your pledge will be $200. Throughout the season, pins and pledges will be recorded and a letter will be mailed with your pledge amount and payment information.
