2019-20 (Senior): 2020 NWCA Second-Team All-American selection ... earned second trip to the NCAA Championships as the No. 12 seed at heavyweight ... placed third at the Big 12 Championship going 5-1 while finishing the tournament with four straight wins ... tied for a team-leading 24 wins collecting 14 wins by decision, five major decisions, three falls, one technical fall and one forfeit ... went 11-1 in dual meets ...  went 4-2 against ranked opponents ... went 3-0 at the Reno Tournament of Champions ... went 5-2 at the Midlands Championships placing sixth earning three bonus-point wins ... won 15 of his final 16 matches of the season ... recorded a 7-4 mark in 11 matches against NCAA Championship qualifiers ... All Heart Award for giving his all every time he stepped out on the mat.
2018-19 (Junior): Hokit became the first All-American wrestler from Fresno State since 2003 (Mario Botelho) finishing fifth at 197 pounds at the 2019 NCAA Championships... went 6-2 at the NCAA Championships winning four straight consolation matches to assure himself on an All-American finish... defeated No. 6 seed Willie Miklus of Iowa State, 7-2 in overtime in the fifth-place match... led the team with 27 wins... also tallied a team-high 19 decisions... secured four major decisions, three falls and one technical fall... posted a 8-1 record in dual matches... went 4-1 in Big 12 duals... competed in 19 matches against 13 NCAA Tournament competitors posting a 12-7 record... competed against four eventual All-Americans at 197 pounds going 2-1 against Miklus who finished sixth and went 1-1 against Jacob Warner (Iowa) who placed seventh... also wrestled at the NCAA Championships against eventual champion Bo Nickal (Penn State) and fourth-place Patrick Brucki (Princeton)... finished sixth at the Reno Tournament of Champions (Dec. 20) overcoming a first-round loss to eventual NCAA Tournament qualifier Sawyer Root (The Citadel) to win five straight matches... placed seventh at the Midlands Championships going 6-2 in the tournament closing out action with a fall of NCAA Championships qualifier Brett Perry (Buffalo) in 6:28....
2017-18 (Sophomore): Hokit joined the Bulldogs in early 2018 after finishing the football season competing in 17 matches finishing with a 9-8 overall record... finished fifth at the Big 12 Championships as he was one of two 'Dogs to place in Tulsa... posted a 6-6 dual meet mark, including a 1-2 record against Big 12 opponents... notched a fall in his first collegiate match pinning Ryan Anderson (Cal Poly) in 4:14... also recorded falls against Joe Teague (Iowa State) and David Showunmi (Stanford) in 5:45... five other victories came in decisions over Tristan Sponseller (Lock Haven), Samuel Colbray (Iowa State) twice, Cordall Eaton (North Dakota State) and Andrew Dixon (Oklahoma)... went 3-2 at the Big 12 Championships with wins over Colbray, Eaton and Dixon. Â
High School: Hokit won the 182-lb. weight class at the 2016Â CIF State Tournament... was a 3-time CIF State Medalist... ranked as high as number three in the nation as a senior.
Personal:Â Son of Cristina and Seth Hokit ... has two brothers, Isaiah and Scott ... Isaiah wrestled at Drexel ... has not declared at major at Fresno State.
Coach Steiner's comments: "Josh comes to us from Clovis High and is Isaiah's younger and bigger brother.  He will compete on the Gridiron and the Mat for the Bulldogs. When he is out there hitting people on Saturdays, we hope to see some double legs. He is a fierce competitor and is looking to be the closer for us in the heavyweight slot."
