2019-20 (Junior): Redshirted ... went 4-0 at the Roadrunner Open competing unattached defeating Cohlton Schultz (Arizona State - Unattached) in the finals ... also earned a win by decision, major decision and fall.
2018-19 (Sophomore): 2019 NCAA Championships qualifier... placed second at the 2019 Big 12 Championship... ranked second on the team with 24 wins... posted a team-leading 14 wins in dual meets with only two losses... went 7-1 in Big 12 duals... tallied 12 decisions, five falls, four forfeits, two major decisions and one technical fall... Nevills went 2-1 at the Big 12 Championship defeating No. 7 seed Brandon Ngati (West Virginia), 4-2 in the quarterfinals and No. 3 seed Gannon Gremmel (Iowa State), 3-2 in the semifinals before falling to No. 1 seed Derek White (Oklahoma State) in the finals... went 0-2 at the NCAA Championships falling to No. 19 seed Brian Andrews (Wyoming) and No. 33 seed Jacob Aven (Purdue)... placed fourth at the Midlands Championships falling to Matt Stencel (Central Michigan), 10-5 in the third-place match... went 5-8 in 13 matches against 12 NCAA Tournament qualifiers defeating Tate Orndorff (Utah Valley), Brian Andrews (Wyoming), Haydn Maley (Stanford), Gannon Gremmel (Iowa State) and Brandon Ngati (West Virginia)... competed against four eventual All-Americans in Derek White (Oklahoma State), Gable Stevenson (Minnesota), Amar Dhesi (Oregon State) and Matt Stencel (Central Michigan)... won his first nine matches of the season before his first loss came to Stevenson in the quarterfinals of the Cliff Keen Invite.
2017-18 (Freshman): 2018 NCAA Championships qualifier.... placed second at the 2018 Big 12 Championship... finished the season with a team-high 28 wins.... named the George IIg Male Newcomer of the Year... compiled a 16-4 dual meet record.... tallied a 4-2 mark in Big 12 duals... won a team-high 13 matches by decision, as well as a team-best 11 by fall adding two major decisions, one tech. fall and one forfeit win... won the Bill Musick Memorial Open with a 3-0 mark winning a pair of matches by fall and defeated Jacob Sieder (CSUB-UNA), 11-4 in the finals.... started the season 9-0 before a 2-3 stretch led to 15 straight wins from Dec. 17 to Jan. 27 to move his record to 26-3.... went 2-1 at the Big 12 Championships defeating Alex Macki (South Dakota State), 6-3 and pinned Marcus Harrington (Iowa State) in overtime in the semifinals to become the first 'Dog to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament since 2006.... lost in the Big 12 finals falling to No. 9 Derek White (Oklahoma State), 13-6.... wrestled No. 4 seed Jacob Kasper (Duke) in the first round of the NCAA Championships getting pinned in 6:31 and dropping a close 8-4 decision to William Miller (Edinboro) in the consolation round.

High School:Â Won the 2016 CIF State Championship at Clovis High School at 220 pounds... ranked as the No. 47 overall recurit in the 2016 class by Flo Wrestling...Â
Personal: Son of Kerri and Wayne Nevills... has two older brothers, Zach who wrestled at Stanford (2012-16) & Nick, who is a senior at Penn State along with a younger brother Seth who enters his senior season at Clovis High School as a three-time state champion and is working toward becoming only the third California prep to win four state championships.... chose to attened Fresno State since it is home to him... favorite athlete is Bulldog football great Derek Carr since he is an all-around role model... admires his parents for always supporting him and holding him accountable.... business major at Fresno State... born November 10, 1997...
Coach Steiner's comments on Nevills: "We are very excited to have AJ Nevills apart of the Bulldog Wrestling Family. I feel AJ has some great potential with a huge upside. He had great success in High School here in California and I expect the same thing from him at Fresno State. He has great character and will be a great leader on this team."
