2019-20 (Redshirt Sophomore): Salas went 6-8 while competing at both 197 pounds and heavyweight ... recorded a 5-6 mark at 197 lbs. and went 1-2 at heavyweight ... posted a 1-3 record in duals with his win coming at heavyweight with a wild 4-2 victory in sudden victory over Kayne Hutchison of Air Force to clinch the 'Dogs Big 12 dual win over the Falcons ... finished second at the Bill Musick Open at 197 pounds with a 3-1 mark ... also earned one win apiece at both the Roadrunner Open and the Reno Tournament of Champions ... Best Red Wave Moment Award winner for his win in sudden victory against Air Force.
2018-19 (Redshirt Freshman): Salas went 8-9 as a redshirt freshman... went 0-6 in dual meets... tallied a 0-2 mark in Big 12 dual meets... won six decisions and two technical falls... won the Northern Colorado Open at 197 pounds with a 20-4 technical fall over Jose Reodriguez (Unattached-Northeastern JC)... finished third at the Roadrunner Open with a 5-1 mark defeating Bruce Valdez (Menlo College), 8-4... competed against two NCAA Tournament qualifiers defeating Nathan Traxler (Stanford) and Anthony McLaughlin (Air Force).
2017-18 (Freshman): Redshirted.... Salas went 5-4 competing unattached in a pair of tournaments... posted a 3-2 mark at the California Collegiate Open placing fourth with a win in overtime over Willem DeBoer (UNA-CP), a 23-9 major decision win over Andrew Herrera (UNA-SFSU) and a 22-3 technical fall victory over Kristopher Kranich (UNA-Simpson)... went 2-2 at the Edinboro Open with a fall in 4:18 over Gordon Truesdale (Edinboro) and a medical forfeit of Nick Corvo (Mount Union).
High School: Salas was a 3-time CIF State Medalist... finished fourth in the CIF State Tournament at 195 lbs. as a senior at St. John Bosco High School in 2017... took sixth at 195 lbs. in 2016 and earned seventh place in 2015... claimed the 2017 Freakshow Champion... was named a Cadet All-American... named a team captain as a senior... Long Beach Press Telegram Wrestler of the Year in 2016.
Personal: Son of Mary Anne and Danny Salas... has three sisters, Helena, Rachel and Susan... business major at Fresno State... wants to pursue real estate as a profession... favorite athlete is Conor McGregor who he admires for his work ethic.
